I'm on my first run of Dark Souls II and coming from Dark Souls Remastered it's a very different experience. Parrying and backstabing feels harder? And losing health when dying is a tough pill to swallow (although now that I got the ring of binding it's way more bearable) so I'm still getting the hand of it. I find it funny how the pursuer actually pursues and ambush you when you least expect it. Also, I've just beaten Ornstein from ds1? How did he come back after being bonked by Smough's comically large hammer? I guess I'll find out later on
Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes
This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".
Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.
Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:
[BB] This enemy is so difficult!
or
[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

Just started lies of p. It is very good so far.
~~Ghost of Yotei for me. not soulslike but great sword combat like sekiro. I might pull the trigger and buy Lies of P, though.~~
Lies of P.
Buy it, it's great! this is your sign!
I am weak to peer pressure so I bought it. If it sucks I'm going to find you and do unspeakable things to your socks.
I'm at the first major boss. This is great so far.
Good my work here is done. Have fun! (⌐■_■)
I might play some more GRIME, which is a Soulslike Metroidvania. I'm a couple of hours in at this point but not fully hooked yet. I'm also playing a couple of other games at the same time.
GRIME is good though if you like these types of games. If you've just finished Silksong and want something in the same genre I bet it's worth checking out. It's 55% off at 9.44€ on the current Steam sale too, which is an alright deal and not too far off the 1-year low.
Currently playing silksong and cleaning out the map before act 3
Same here! Trying to get some really hard deliveries done at the moment.
Currently playing Final Fantasy Tactics remake which is not a soulslike, I'm just excited about it
It does have sorta kinda similar combat (you can hit things and dodge in real time). But that's the only souls-like quality it has.
Lies of P
Demon's Souls remake is on Ps+ so I might jump in, since I already finished and did a ng+ run for Lies of P... but, I might go back for the third ending to get my sweet base game trophy before my subscription runs out, loved the game.
I returned to Yharnam earlier this year so no more Bloodborne for me.
Does Space Marine 2 count?
Mandragora: whispers of the witch tree
I've recently started watching a let's play of Elden Ring from a few years ago by a guy who I watched play the Dark Souls games blind. It's made me want to jump back in. I'm playing using only fire incantations (and maybe dragon ones too for damage type coverage), the first couple of hours have been pretty fun, but I've only done a handful of minor dungeons and stuff, I haven't even made it to Stormveil yet. No idea how people manage this legit without hacking in infinite FP.
