I squeezed in a few extra electrons, but I'm not sure if it's enough. Do you think it will last a full day?

An elderly man walks into an English pub wearing a military uniform. The barman pours him a pint and asks him where he served, but the man points to a particularly nasty scar across his throat and rasps out the word 'Falklands'.

The barman is moved by this obvious war injury and tells the old soldier that his drink is on the house. The soldier grins, shakes the barman's hand and says 'Muchas gracias!'

Its the evolution of removable batteries - the self removing battery.

[–] Tippon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It explosively removed itself to low earth orbit earlier. How long should I wait for it to return?

[–] 18107@aussie.zone 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Don't worry too much about the time. Orbital mechanics guarantees that it will return to the exact same place as it left.

Unless the Earth is rotating… You didn't start the earth rotating, did you?

[–] Tippon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

My orbital maths is a bit rusty, but I don't think so? I mean, I am quite close to the top of the planet, and the battery did go pretty quickly, but, uh, I don't think so... 🫣

[–] 18107@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

All (2-body) orbits are ellipses, so the path is guaranteed to travel through starting location a second time.

If your battery does not have enough mass to return to you from below, you may need to speak to the manufacturer regarding warranties.

Looks like the Falklands are about to explode again 😮‍💨

Ah, the spiciness might be what's making my head tingle when I sleep on it 🤔

[–] SomGye@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

That and the spare electrons! They multiply at night, of course!

I’m sure it’s fine, just fill the gap with some silicone.

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

And rice, don't forget the rice..

[–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 2 points 1 week ago

Whoah, not good.

He's gotta press it down first so it makes a good seal

[–] Tippon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago

Maybe if I seal it, I can squeeze a bit more electric in and fill any gaps 🤔

[–] Wahots@pawb.social 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Spicy pillow! Discharge it if you can and then don't charge it again.

[–] Tippon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 week ago

It's safely in my garage for now and isn't being touched until I hear from my local fire station about the best way to dispose of it here 🙂

"LSLANDS (LSLAS MALVINAS)"

Why are the capital "I"s printed as "L"s, but the lowercase "i"s in small caps are correct?

Why is "U.K." lowercase (small caps), but "ARGENTINA" in all caps (also in small caps)?

[–] Tippon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 week ago

The map is awesome, you can play games of spot the 'deliberate' errors all around the world 🙈🤣

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Just put it in the microwave. I'm going to go out into my garden and see which direction the sonic boom comes from.

[–] Tippon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago

I PUT IT IN THE MICROWAVE, BUT THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE AND NOW I CAN'T FIND THE MICROWAVE

[–] foo@feddit.uk 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Is this one of those 3d touch screens?

[–] Tippon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

Ithink iit is, but I don't like it. It makes my finger feel tingly.

[–] nexguy@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's the daddy of all puffy batteries

[–] Tippon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

Mmmm... Puff battery. I wonder if it tastes as good as a puff pastry, I'm just going to get a knife and find out 😋

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 2 points 1 week ago

Needa make some modifications to that map...

[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

fun fact: call the bomb squad, call them now

[–] Tippon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago

All joking aside, I did mean to ring my local fire station today to find out how to dispose of it in my area. The local guidance is pretty much non existent.
