Man you guys should have seen 2002. The Muslim hate was unapologetic and all over

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago

it never wented away, just became quiescent in remission, with periodic cylces of flare ups.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Yeah, well Qatar building an air base on American soil is sure to be a popular move. I'm sure it will help the average Muslim immensely

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Qatar isn't building a base. We're constructing space for them on an existing base in Idaho to train F-15 pilots. This is normal. Pensacola Naval Air Station trains allied pilots from all over the world. I've seen them IRL.

I think it's adorable that you think reality matters.

Laura Loomer has already condemned to action, and I'm pretty sure she's not the sort to let facts get in her way.

But thanks for clarifying the situation for those of us who can handle facts.

I cannot parse that mess of a comment. In case you change it:

Laura Loomer has already condemned to action, and I'm pretty sure she's not the sort to let facts get in her way.

She condemned to [sic] action, she's a liar, she's telling the truth on this one. ?

No idea what that fruitcake has to do with any of this. Can you point to a non-factual anything in my comment? Cut out any bit you like. Show me where the lie touched you. Don't insinuate anything! Reply to the words I stated.

I think dagwood there is agreeing with you, but saying that you present the facts as though the propagandists might correct the narrative if they understood. Dagwood thinks that’s naiive, and trots out Loomer as an example of the bullshit at work.

How’d I do?

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's exactly what I meant.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Whew! Took my dumbass a minute, and an explanation to parse that. Still a little confused.

OP made a false statement which I corrected. No, facts don't matter in the wider world, but they mostly do around here. I mean, this place isn't exactly FaceBook.

I’m sure the very public and blatant bribery and corruption had nothing to do with this. Stop justifying the actions of the most corrupt administration in history. Please

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well, yeah, giving Trump a crappy plane that will cost more to bring up to snuff than it's worth was obvious bribery. So, what's the exact issue with training these particular allies on an American base? As I stated, this is normal.

[–] 0_o7@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So, what's the exact issue with training these particular allies on an American base?

Ikr, both country loves slavery. Nothing should be stopping these salvers dictators from becoming best buddies. Maybe next you can bring some Taliban over to train them, you already train with IDF, what's another authoritarian state funding extremists, am I right?

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

My point stands, on paper we are allies, said paper signed by Biden.

And the Taliban/terrorist angle is silly, and borderline racist. I'm no fan of any Muslim nation, but I asked for issues, not speculative fiction.

[–] maccentric@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

I didn’t know f-15s were still in service—I thought it was f-35s?

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think the blatant corruption of this angers the left and the racism angers the right so everyone hates this decision

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago

Someone downvoted you, which is sad because you stated the situation perfectly.

[–] SanctimoniousApe 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They have to keep stirring up anger to keep their base from cooling down enough to think level-headedly. It's why the targets are always rotating, but the bullshit is the same.

When it's done.

[–] Jikiya@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

"The right is stirring up hate - and it's getting worse" FTFY. There's nothing that's good that they're not turning their legion of fools on.

[–] DreamAccountant@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Oh, and leftist atheists are all just "the right" because we don't want any extremist hate religions infecting society. Not just islam, but christianity, judiaism, mormonism, scientology, hinduism, etc... All of them.

Because there's thousands of years of history backing up the current events, showing that religions do FAR more harm than good to individiuals and society.

[–] SereneSadie@lemmy.myserv.one 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I'd like to think that being atheist entails deconstructing and dismantling religion through less volatile means than that guy in Germany prior to the election. To name an example.

Not to say that drastic action isn't called for when it's the literal planet at stake and at least one major culprit has the backing of bloodthirsty Christians among others.

its also because madhami was making alot of inroads in Politics, that was just the spart,. but islamophobia has been around for a very long time.
