Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.
Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.
What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.
By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

Tf is toxic empathy?
Apparently it's a real term some people use, but not enough for a mention on Wikipedia. It's when you care for someone else's emotions and needs to the point that you hurt yourself in the process.

So I take it's just toxic to republicans

A large percentage of people voting for mass deportations (i.e. Trump) are certainly xenophobic and racist, but a lot of them also believed that mass deportations would solve all their problems: available jobs would go up, wages would go up, while inflation and crime rates would go down.
None of those things have happened--in fact, their media bubble keeps telling them that major cities are burning to the ground, and it's so bad that the army has to occupy them to "stop the violence." They were willing to inflict savagery on non-violent immigrants with the understanding that it would solve America's problems. Things were supposed to get better not worse. And that's what they mean when they say they "didn't vote for this."
There are and have always been jobs available all over. Most of them don't pay enough. There's always been more than enough jobs. Fascists, just despise sharing their hoard and would rather victimize someone.
People with Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD) may have a limited capacity for empathy and can be more interested in benefiting themselves than avoiding harm to others. They may have no regard for morals, social norms, or the rights of others. People with ASPD can have difficulty beginning or sustaining relationships. It is common for the interpersonal relationships of someone with ASPD to revolve around the exploitation and abuse of others. People with ASPD may display arrogance, think lowly and negatively of others, have limited remorse for their harmful actions, and have a callous attitude toward those they have harmed.
For added clarity/context, ASPD is roughly the more modern designation for sociopath, a person who is seemingly literally physically incapable of genuine mirror empathy, views all social interactions as a game, everything to them is basically acting, their sense of morality is wholly centered on and only really in reference to themself, Patrick Bateman's mask over almost perfectly nothing.
They are almost always also malignant narcissists.

America is what happens when you let the bullies win, when society is run by sociopaths, and a huge chunk of the population worships them as celebrities or thought leaders or divenely ordained agents of God... and also tries to emulate them, learn from them.

Oh wow she's still around?? I thought she was a bit of a flop and got put back on the shelf. Damn. Still contributing nothing intelligent or valuable, I see. I wonder how people like this sleep at night. They don't achieve things. They're spewing lies, that they know are lies, for money. Like... How do you look in the mirror? How do you live with yourself? How can they stand themselves?
