Fun fact: they removed all the stained glass during WW-II to protect it from bombing.

In the mid-2000s, they started a restoration effort. Turned out a lot of the glass had been vandalized during the French Revolution and incorrectly repaired in the 1800s. They ended up restoring as much as they could using original material, and polishing off the collected grime.

It's really stunning.

Paris, in the central island where Notre Dame is. It's one of the few remaining building of the medieval royal palace.
