But it still says it at least twice on the Steam page itself. Not trying too hard there.

Uh, they might wanna change the Steam description, which as of right now is:

The Day Before offers players a uniquely reimagined journey into post-apocalyptic open-world MMO survival set in the present day on the US East Coast following a deadly pandemic.

But also right above the categories on the right hand side where the store page tells you if it's single player/online pvp/online co-op, is the category "MMO"

what even is an "extraction shooter"

Limited time, limited locations for you to safely make it out with loot. Like Tarkov or DMZ.

I find the episodic nature more enjoyable than mmo total time sink fwiw

Is tarkov not a massive time sink? I feel like I'm committed to 2+hours every time I try to sit down and play, and the mid game crafting you almost have to undertake to get quality ammo makes you have to log in almost daily to not waste resources.

It’s definitely flawed in a bunch of ways, I usually play with a hardcore self imposed rule set, getting good ammo to beat armour is one way, another way is just avoiding those fights or taking medium quality ammo from the corpses of other players after the shooting stops.

There are some changes soon where armour is more localised, meaning a spray of cheap ammo to the torso still stands a chance of getting through for massive damage. It may also reduce the number of people wearing armour. I’ve not played in a while, the AI is what really turns me off, dying to a bot a mile away without warning. But that’s also part of the charm. shrug

Imagine fortnite (or any battle royale), but instead of being the last man standing, you want to find loot (or whatever) and return to the designated area alive. Person or team with most loot wins.
