Doesn't have any new info for any existing deck owners, but it's always nice to see positive coverage and opinions.

I own the LCD deck and goofed off with the OLED deck. The screen is perfect, just like I imagined. But the thing that caught me off guard was how much lighter it feels. They say it's 30% or something lighter, but because of the way that you typically hold it, it feels half the weight. The joysticks also have a deep recess on the inside, which makes your thumbs slip a lot less.

Overall, I would say that if you currently have a Deck and play it every day, if you can sell your old one for a reasonable price, the cost is probably worth it. If you're a casual gamer and you only play every so often, the upgrades on the new Deck are great to have but probably not worth the cost. As a new purchase, OLED without question.

Not 30%, it's 30g or 5% lighter!

Thanks for posting that. That’s exactly where I’m at. I’ll suddenly play a ton on it for a week or two then not at all for a month. I’ll stick to the old one.

New one sounds great though. Good on Valve.

That is what I did, did my lcd for a good price and got the oled

I've been using my OLED a lot more than my original, I think mainly because it's just significantly lighter. It's been a bit but even now I pick it up and still am surprised.

And that definitely makes it feel more accessible for playing on the go. I brought my original Deck out and about but it wasn't always comfortable and I often used the case as a prop stand, the OLED I've yet to even consider using the case to rest the device on.

Everything else, the battery life, performance, it makes a difference too, but man. I've been most surprised by its weight.

That's surprising to me, too. I never had an OG Deck to compare, but on paper it's such a small difference I wouldn't have expected it to feel significant.

I tested mine briefly when it arrived before putting it away for Christmas and I was impressed with its responsiveness and screen. I'm looking forward to putting a lot of hours on it. (Well, a lot for me. Life is busy with kids!)

To be fair the Oled variant is a bit expensive, but damn! This thing is too damn confy to play with. A true click and play experience.
