is this a real thing or just another "Chinese police stations" story?
They say he was contacted by someone who works for State Security Dept (?) in China and they had been texting stuff about things he could do as a politician.
Honestly the story is as fishy as always. I don't doubt the Belgian guy actually thought he was doing some espionage or something. He never really succeeded at anything, though. But the flimsy evidence that has been leaked is enough for the media to have a field day about evil China.
I just thought it was funny that the CPC would find a guy in a borderline Nazi Party to do things with instead of, you know, the actual marxist party they have ties with (us)

An update: now one of the party leaders is getting targeted for ties to China as well lol. Is this a 5D chess move by China to dismantle the far right?
This happened in Canada recently too and I can't help but think it's an op in the vein of Russiagate.
Most people have absolutely no basis on which to understand how far right tendencies are inevitable under capitalism. So it's really easy to sell them stories about foreign interference to both comfort them that far right tendencies aren't an organic growth from the current conditions and it helps drum up more China/Russia/villain-of-the-week hate to be leveraged later on.
I appreciate your commitment to de-francasizing english.
