I'd argue that BBC should be added to the list.
Yes this. It's great that a national news source is embracing the fediverse. This is their instance for those who haven't seen it.
It's an experiment set for 6 months, but the more people who support it the more likely it will become permanent.
the BBC loves to promote racial and ethnic hatred towards minorities, they should be banned from the fediverse
Not sure if the list is supposed to only be accounts that moved from another service to the Fediverse completely, but some other notable accounts/organizations on the Fediverse that I can think of off the top of my head:
- The BBC's Mastodon instance, social.bbc
- Ars Technica
- George Takei
- Flipboard (has multiple accounts)
- Wikipedia
Neil Gaiman is also on mastodon (and it wouldn't surprise me if some of the other authors in his cohort are too) though his main social media for major interactions is still Tumblr (which depending on your opinion of the Good Omens fandom, is either a blessing or a curse)
social.bbc
Yeah, you're not gonna trick me into clicking that link.
(☞゚ヮ゚)☞
Honestly questioning why I even mentioned the instance name, I should've saw this coming
Not sure how we're defining 'eminent', but George Takei has been on Mastodon for a while too
And Jeri Ryan, both of which are rather active too, which is more than many tech people who crept over to Twitter can say because they have more of a following there.
There's also the European Commission (as in the EU), and the Fedora Project (as in Fedora Linux).
I read it as... list of eminem accounts. Then wondered why he had so many accounts...
Will the real slim shady, PLEASE stand up

Thanks OP, this site is really cool! Very thoghtful with that option to set your instance and get the right links. Reddit import is cool too.
Dutch goverment? How?
Social media accounts.
Yeah but that link doesn't provide to where they are.
Ok, but how can I subscribe to them from my lemmy.world account from within Sync app on Android. Is that even possible? Yet?
You can subscribe on the app the same way as if they were on lemmy.world. When you search in the app, it shows results from all across the fediverse
So I click the link. It opens in a webview. I see @stephenfry@mastodonapp.uk there so copy it. I go back out of the webview so I can see my search button. I paste that link in there. "This sub has no posts...retry" Am I doing it wrong? Or is this just a godawful UX?
I don't think Lemmy search works for anything but communities. You're trying to use the search to look for a user profile.
It's also a mastodon account, which might not be supported by Lemmy apps?
well i switched from reddit to lemmy and fling up along with uselessserver093 i am planning on bringing uselessserver093 to hajkey
