The worst of all possible worlds
I truly hope anyone that wishes to abandon Idaho and seek freedom will have the means and opportunity to do so as quickly as possible. Idaho isn't just an unsafe place for women. It's no longer a safe place to practice medicine which means it's not a safe place for anyone.
This is such a huge issue for red states. It’s hard enough to recruit docs in rural areas (assuming the local hospital is even financially viable, although critical access hospitals do get extra funding) and now it’s going to be that much harder. Who wants to practice in a place where you can go to jail for doing your job?
When the people who can flee have fled, the state will still have two senators.
Abortion bans are so fucking evil. Taking away essential health care and bodily autonomy because of a fairy tale. All of this for votes for a political party.
because of a fairy tale
That is the baffling and infuriating part of it all. It's like we would base laws and social structure on "The Emperor's New Clothes", "Hansel and Gretel" or "The Three Little Pigs".
It is absurd but here we are, a very large portion of the world believes in some form of fairy tale to justify real world implications, rules and law based on such a fairy tales. And then also have the gall to block or impede real world science based on such a fairy tale.
Over evolved scared little monkeys prone to believe in the boogie man, that's what we are.
It's only a matter of time until someone dies because of this law, and unfortunately it's likely to be a child rape victim.
It almost happened here in Ohio when a 10-year-old had to travel to Indiana to get the abortion and the state still tried have the doctor in Indiana investigated for using a 10 year old rape victim to "push her political agenda".
It's absolutely nauseating that roughly half the country still wants to vote for these fucks.
Not to be pedantic, but it is nowhere near half the country. There is an absurdly significant over representation of Republican politicians for several reasons:
The Senate is not a proportionally representative body, therefore the less populous states that make up the majority of the country have significantly more power than they otherwise would, and these states are predominantly Republican.
Gerrymandering allows states that are much more purple than you would assume (like Texas for example) to be hostily controlled by the Republican party even in areas that would otherwise lean more heavily blue.
The suppression of voting rights by the Republican party. This includes schemes to prevent accessible vote by mail options for the entire country, which is a super easy problem to solve. However, solving it would allow apathetic voters who otherwise wouldn't vote or those who can't easily access polling stations due to work, disability, or other reasons to vote regularly. Then you get into the fact that we are basically the only country where national elections days aren't a mandatory holiday.
I could go on, but the point is that we currently live in a system of minority rule. The true number of legitimate Republic voters in this country is roughly 30% of the voting age public. The Republican party knows that the demographics are skewed insurmountably towards the liberal/progressive with each passing year. They cannot win the numbers game, not even close. The only way they continue to win is to erode democracy, destroy people's faith in government, and game the judicial system.
You could go on, but I think it's worth adding that just like the Senate isn't proportionally represented by population, even if the house weren't gerrymanderd, it wouldn't either.
They haven't kept up with adding house seats based off population making it even worse.
If you based the number of reps in the original bill of rights, they would be limited to 50000 people. https://thirty-thousand.org/
6600 reps vs 435.
Things would be so different
The only way they continue to win is to erode democracy
There you have it - the GOP grand plan, and the MAGA cult will provide the cyanide for their own Kool-Aid
its like 30% of the country that reliably votes for these trash goblins, the problem is like 70% of the billionaires support them because the republicans will give them all the tax cuts and hand jobs they'll ever want. Most the billionaires also own a majority of the press so the propaganda guns are only getting bigger faster and dumber.
70%? Try 99%.

They also do shit like this if you go to a state where it is legal
Jesus christ, everyone in that story comes across as trashy to me but the kidnapping charge is ridiculous. I don't think you should have any claim to parental rights when you don't know where your 15 year old daughter has been living for months. How about arresting her mom and charging her with neglect/abandonment or whatever relevant law is on the books in Idaho? But hey, Republicans once again prove they don't actually care about kids and this has always been about controlling women.
When I lived in Idaho clothing stores were not allowed to put women's underwear on display. Women literally had to leave the state to buy underwear. (This was before Internet commerce became mainstream - back in the 90's).
this is why it's legal and morally acceptable to punch ~~nazis~~ republicans
You repeat yourself.
Welp, that's enough internet for today.
