Tablets are notebooks that the paper flips vertically over the top instead of folding to the left or right

Yep, 37 here.
I found Digg just before the Exodus and hung around Reddit for a decade or so then split during the Reddit blackout.

Long pressing on a comment has always collapsed it unless you were replying to the comment, then you could long press to highlight a string of text to quote for a reply.
Now, long pressing closes the parent in reply mode and there is no way to highlight text to copy for quoting purposes.

The civil rights movement did not succeed because of Martin Luther King Jr's peaceful speech, it succeeded because the Black Panthers bought a firearms en masse and took their rights.
We didn't win the revolutionary war because we asked nicely and protested peacefully, we won because we ignored the standards of chivalry in war at the time and fought like guerillas.
Anyone who says violence isn't the answer has never studied history.
Violence is the only thing that's ever worked.

I'm not sure why we're concerned about legality, if we're going to just roll over when Trump makes it illegal to fight fascism at all because "it's illegal" then we deserve what we got.

Seeing as the Jesus of the Bible was absolutely a far-left liberal commie bastard by their standards, I can't wait to see the looks on their faces when they're the only ones not raptured at the end.

I agree, hindsight is 20/20 and if he would have just won then, this would have all been over yesterday.

But now, we're 75 days from being an actual dictatorship, and when we help Russia flatten Europe we'll also be an axis power.
Every time I think we're in the worst possible timeline the universe says "bet" and throws us another curveball.
I'm getting really fucking tired of living in an era that will be fascinating to read about in future history books.

What about the other teenager? The one who died?
He never gets to go home, he'll never be part of society again.

Well, he did say he was sleeping in bed with his four dogs so I can think of at least four different places he could have got the claw marks.

I get it, Biden is old and that's a problem, but why doesn't anyone seem to have a problem with the fact that Trump is almost the same age, has 34 felonies, raped at least 2 women, went to Epstein's Island 11 times, sexualized his own daughter, stole classified documents, aligned himself with Xi and Putin, and can't remember common names?

Is all of that really better than being 2½ years older than he is right now?

My OS is on a 512gb M.2 drive, but the main storage on my laptop was a 1TB HDD, it started making noise about 2 weeks ago so I backed everything up onto a 1TB SanDisk USB SSD. This afternoon it got very clicky when I booted it up after work and icons for a few games I had stored on it, like KSP and YUZU, disappeared from the desktop and taskbar.

If we're supposed to be able to understand math as easily as a language, we should be able to read it from left to right like a language.
Yes, I know there's lots other languages that go right to left or top to bottom, but the point is you don't have to go jumping around the page or sentence figuring out which word should be read first based on which characters it contains.
We put the first word first, then the second word second, etc.
Why can't we just write equations in the order they were meant to be solved?

Edit: I mean to say just a significant amount, not a majority. That's obviously porn.

mod tools? (lemmy.world)

I moderate a very small community but I'd like to be able to pin posts and have access to other general moderator tools like removing posts/comments and locking threads.
It doesn't seem that I can do any of that with Connect and it's cumbersome at best to try to do it on a mobile browser.
Are there any plans to implement mod tools? Or is there a setting I missed somewhere that enabls them?

A decade ago, It was predicted that we would hit 1.5°C between 2050-2060, and even as recently as 2 years ago the prediction had moved forward to between 2030-2040.
The next decade or two are going to be very... interesting
