When reading a web page within Connect, it would be nice if long-pressing on links in the webpage would give a popup with the option to open the link in an external browser (and probably also an option to just copy the link). I frequently find myself linked to Wikipedia from a Lemmy comment, and then want to open other links from that wiki page, so then I have to open the page I'm on externally and refind my spot in the article.

Having the same options when long-pressing a link in a comment/post would be nice as well.

I actually came here to post about a similar issue. I looked at a comment that was just a link, I long pressed expecting to see a menu akin to right click so I could copy the link, but instead it minimized the comment.

I'm loving connect so far after rif died, but this would be a great change. Personally I don't need a shortcut to hide a comment, I'll just keep scrolling

Hiding a comment or post by long press is horrible, imo. It doesn't make sense.

I've enabled the "reverse comment interactions" setting (swap tap and long-press functions) and I find it a preferable experience.

I have too, but it's still bad. I'd rather have the ability to turn it off and not just swap it.

I would like that too. It's also nice to see what the url is before actually opening up something too for safety reasons

That's another good point

I just came here because I was trying to copy the link from a comment to modify the link in my reply (to make it an old Reddit link), but it was a very frustrating experience.

Even opening the web view of the comment does so in the internal browser, which just shows the URL and title (hidden under your finger) when you long press on that.

If I am holding a link it should give options; you already handle tapping on a link in a comment differently from tapping on the text of the comment, so why is the same not true for holding on links?

Thanks for all your work!
