  • Brush: Semogue 1305
  • Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Raw Titanium (#69)
  • Blade: Elios Inoxidable (3)
  • Lather: Proraso - Red - Soap
  • Post Shave: Barrister & Mann - Lyssa - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: House of Mammoth/Declaration Grooming - Cerberus - Liniment
  • Fragrance: Barrister & Mann - Lavenille - EdP

Yesterday I used Palmolive cream, so I figured today I would continue with mass produced products. Proraso Red has a wonderful sandalwood scent. The performance is decent. Good enough, as they say.

Lavenille EdP is very nice! It's super similar to Lavender, Interrupted, but has more of a vanilla kick, where Lav, Inter has more of a smooth, classy, late night warmth.

New knot, who dis?

  • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Tabak Oridjinal, now with 28 mm Gelousy knot
  • Razor: Wolfman Satin WR1 dual comb 0.74 mm gap head on hollow WRH1 handle
  • Blade: Feather new Hi-Stainless
  • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz Tabac Original
  • Aftershave: Mühle Aloe Vera Rasurlotion

The replacement knot for my disintegrating Zenith

has finally made it here from wintry Canada and I couldn't wait for Tuesday to give it a run at the Stank Tank®.

I don't have a lot of experience breaking in new badgers (this is only third new badger I've tried), but this thing didn't stink when it got wet for the first time, it whipped up lather with now difficulty at all, and it lost less than a dozen bristles, so I'd say that's a good start. It's a bit on the floppy side, but there's no easy fix for that without deepening the shallow borehole. The knot is set with silicone, so that's still an option if I still think it's floppy later.

SOTD 14.01.2024

  • Prep: warm water
  • Razor: Greencult GC 2.0 II plate
  • Blade: Voskhod
  • Brush: TGS Galaxy 26 mm
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Le Grand Chypre
  • Post Shave: Thayer's Aloe Vera toner; Natura Siberica ASB gel

Just a 2 pass head shave at night. I had a lot of stubble on the dome, so two passes were really needed.

I love smelling LGC, despite the notes sounding like something way different it always reminds me of a very great cola/coke. Plus it's in Omnibus so the added slickness was very great for shaving off all those pesky little hairs.

My weekend was really productive, yesterday I bought a new coat and gloves and today I finished a crafty project for an ex-colleague & friend together with my mom. Unfortunately I didn't find time for a workout, but there's always tomorrow...

  • Brush: Brad Sears Arley 26mm Super Badger

  • Razor: Gillette NEW SC

  • Blade: My-Blades (2)

  • Lather: WestMan Shaving - Nirvana - Soap

  • Toner: Thayers - Lavender - Toner

  • Aftershave: Declaration Grooming - Darkfall - Aftershave

  • Talc: Yardley Classic

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Déclaration du dimanche. Darkfall is perfect for this season. A wonderful rich scent.

I don't think three-piece DE razor design gets better than the Gillette NEW SC for the way I shave. The blade is perfectly clamped, there's just the right amount of edge feel, and there's just the right gap and exposure to let me adjust the blade angle to my liking.

Oh, I like la déclaration du dimanche!

Sunday Citrus

  • Brush: Zenith B21 (XL chrome-plated copper handle, 28 mm knot with 50 mm loft)
  • Razor: Bismarck ~ 4/8", hollow ground, square point
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann 42
  • Aftershave: Barrister and Mann Cheshire
  • Fragrance: Echt Kölnisch Wasser N° 4711
  • Talc: Pinaud Clubman Finest Powder

I'm not a huge fan of this skinny Bismarck, but it gets the job done. 42 and Cheshire are good friends. overall nice start into a Sunday morning

42 and Cheshire are good friends

I started my day with a strong black tea. Should have thought of this.

Sunday, January 14, 2024: Autumn Ash Shunday

Since I decided (ish) to kill Autumn Ash this year, I took to it again, this time with the Zenith boar. A good shave - though in my enthousiasm, I nicked the right nostril, like a true green.

Have a good end of the weekend!
