I'm wondering what situation is this wikiHow dealing with, where having a gun ready in front of an officer is advised?

[-] ImplyingImplications@lemmy.ca 29 points 1 year ago

"Make friends with the officer by showing off your gun so you can bond over your mutual interest in firearms"

[-] Jessica@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

This would make a great first addition to /c/DisneyVacation

WikiHow to get away with it

[-] zevo69@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

Maybe they're listing what not-to-do stuff when you have a dead body in your trunk

[-] FlihpFlorp@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Can confirm. As an ex-corpse for hire I saw someone do this did not end well for them. Fortunately I got in touch with this great necromancer and here we are today

[-] Fredselfish@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Kids have it so easy today with their backlit Nintendo handhelds. Smdh my damn head

I saw this mom rocking these knockoff LCD backlit Gameboys for her kids with cheaper plastic and buttons with a hundred games to play and still thought to myself "nah, my childhood was still better."

"Game Gear/Game Boy" for us old fucks. But yeah, shit never changes. My son now does the same with his Switch.

[-] Stan@lemmywinks.com 4 points 1 year ago

Original gameboy was not backlit. I think you could buy external lights that were like a tiny reading lamp you could attach to the top.

[-] TimeSquirrel@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

I just used a flashlight.

[-] NakariLexfortaine@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Tiny lamps, magnifiers with lights attached, the little "Lite Worm" you could plug on top that barely did anything besides put a bright spot on your screen...

There was a lot of bad ideas before the concept of a backlit Gameboy left Japan. Because of course they had an exclusive one with a backlight before the GBA was even a thing, let alone the SP.

Do some parents actually go to check if their kids are asleep??

[-] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 year ago

Yap mine would do 2 checks roughly. One about an hour after officially turning the lights out and then once before they went to bed (near midnight).

I learned their schedule after repeatedly getting caught reading and devised various strategies to counter this.

I arose a highly successful boy.

[-] Stan@lemmywinks.com 4 points 1 year ago

What were these various strategies?

[-] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

Book lying flat under the pillow was a reasonable success.

Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !disneyvacation@lemmy.world

[-] 001100010010@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Lol someone actually made a community. One of my favorites from reddit.

Edit: Oh it's you! 😅

[-] Exilfranke@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

Man, I remember upgrading from a GB Color to a GBA SP, finally being able to play in the dark without this weird magnifying glass / light attachment.

Good old times.
