Put your money where your mouth is and open source the Tesla software. Do it. I fuckin' dare ya.

Conditioning everyone to see their computers as media consumption kiosks instead of the powerful, productive machines they are. That's where MS OSes are headed. They tried too early with Windows 8 Metro, but they haven't lost sight of that concept.

"My TV shows ads so it's only natural my computer does too." - I bet a lot of people already think like this.

My kid discovered that he can hit the "report" button on the YouTube app on the TV to skip the ads immediately. So now every ad gets reported as "inappropriate".

I'm proud of him.

If y'all got kids, don't forget to teach them how MP3's and actual media files work, I see many young people nowadays don't even realize you can locally store your own music in a portable device-agnostic format. They're beginning to get used to the idea of not owning anything.

This is it. The original pioneers of the net are starting to leave us. I hope we can take care of their baby as well as they did.

I didn't even know we had digital webcams in 1993, and I was very much alive at the time.

Edit: Haha I just did some more reading, these WERE the people who invented the first webcam. They literally created one just to watch this pot.

Corporations would have us all subscribe to the oxygen supply if they could.

Take apart all the things. Reverse engineer their shit. Create open alternatives. Fuck all these monsters. John Deere, Apple, Samsung, Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, everybody included.

90s: stay anonymous, be careful with strangers, don't give up any more info than you have to. The internet can be a dangerous place. Also, supervise your kids and have them ask permission to go online.

2010s-2020s: livestream your life 24/7, use real names and emails everywhere when signing up for bullshit, hand your kid a phone and let them go buck wild as well.

How did we stray like this?

When you can drive for more than a week straight and still be in the same country, needing to know other languages is a lower priority.

I'm pretty sure you can still fly a plane even in black and white. WW2 pilots did. /s
