Wow, we only have 128,000 while mastadon has 2 million? We got a lot of ground to catch up :)

The numbers for lemmy are probably way outdated. Take a look at https://lemmyverse.net/communities. It lists 636 instances but FediDB only has 302. And remember most of this growth has only come in the past week or two.

Also, mastodon only has 1.25 million active users according to FediDB, though that's probably outdated too.

I think around 200,000 seems pretty accurate going off of lemmyverse.net. I sorted the instances by number of users and it seems like it would add up good. The first five servers were 36k, 19k, 11k, 8k, 4k users. After that it was just a bunch of instances with less than 2k users. But that doesn't mean we can't get it up to 6 million :) Let's keep on welcoming the redditers.
