I don't know why this is a thing but if I tap the back of my pixel 6 three times in rapid succession it begins to play my audio book on audible.

From what I can tell audible has to be open but doesn't need to be the app on the screen(for example I can start and stop it while typing this post). Also the phone has to be "on" (meaning the screen is displaying but doesn't need to be unlocked.

Is this just my phone or dies it happen on other people's phone too?

Do you have Quick Tap enabled? I have mine set up to show notifications (I miss the old ability to swipe down on the rear fingerprint reader), but yours might be set up to play/pause media.

Me too, I loved that in my 2XL. Quick Tap doesn't really match up IMO, too many accidental taps when it's in my pocket.

Yeah, I barely use quick tap. The swipe down was so intuitive, and with a bigger phone triple tapping requires you to rebalance the phone in your hand, etc.

In case you don't know (I didn't for a while) there's a sort of replacement for the swipe down in One Handed mode, where you can swipe down on the very bottom of the screen to open notifications. It's not 100%, and very occasionally seems to turn itself off, but on the whole it works well.

I didn't even know this was a thing. Thanks for the flashlight short cut.

Holy shit... You were exactly correct that was what was causing it. Hopefully it will stop randomly starting to play while in my pocket now.

Omg.. Did I just fall for this decade's equivalent of "Woah, check out what happens when you press Alt-F4!"

Lmao, but it is actually a thing. Search taps in settings to find it.

That would be "did you know lemmy has a cool security feature that will automatically hide your password? For example my password is *************" but all you see is astricks. Go ahead, try it"

I have been trying but my email and browser open. Going to keep trying for another hour or so.

Turns of it was "quick tap" as mentioned in another reply. You can change what it does in the setting menu.

I'd rather keep trying.
