Aw damn. I receive this news from a meme sublemmy. RIP Bernard Hill. RIP Theodin King.

The best way to receive the news.

In the words and form that mean the most.

Theodin King.

Only 79? Less than half of what I'd hoped for. (First man to 160.)

Theodin wasn't one of the Dúnedain, was he?

I know you’re joking but I really thought this, even though average life for men is 74 or so. He had a fiancée too. They didn’t get to marriage. Was sudden to his colleagues. And no cause given. It just… sucks. I wish for comfort for his family.

Arise now, arise, Riders of Théoden! Dire deeds awake: dark is it eastward. Let horse be bridled, horn be sounded! Forth Eorlingas!

Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden! Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter! Spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!

I believe he also played Captain in Titanic.

Yes, he did

Was he a captain, the captain or a guy called captain?

[–] casmael@lemm.ee 33 points 11 months ago

Rip Bernard Hill. Couldn’t have asked for a better theoden.

This one hurts. For me, he is the father figure of cinema. His delivery when talking about simbelmyne always gets to me. Sad day. A red day

I wish it need not have happened in my time

[–] arlaerion@lemmy.ml 8 points 11 months ago

So do I, and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.
