I don’t think anyone should use reddit anymore, but you could try another browser. If you are not using google chrome on windows, reddit might be broken for you. It’s called poor web design and reddit is the definition of it. Try google chrome in private mode without any extensions enabled. If the login still doesn’t work, you have another problem.

What about using a multi reddit link to follow the subs you are interested in?

Yeah, just setting a bookmark would make it easy to follow the subs you are interested in. If it is the old.reddit interface you want can just set it to like old.reddit.com/r/sub1+sub2+sub3+sub4. Or get the old reddit redirect extension that will automatically turn any reddit links into the old reddit interface.
This part of the Fediverse should have a sub entitled 12stepprogram4redditaddicts. To follow the conflict in Ukraine there are three reddit subs that are necessary and to do that right you need an account and the old reddit interface. The Lemmy sub Ukraine and several Mastodon accounts are the only alternatives I can find.
