I've tried some of the features mentioned in the issue and reactions seems to work but the quotes are still broken.

Maybe it’s API compatible with Mastodon

According to the codeberg issue, it is.

Side note on Fedilab, do you find it battery-heavy? Do you have the push distributor thing setup for it?

I can't really answer that yet, I've just installed the app to test firefish.

Kaiteki is open source and supports Firefish as well as a lot of other fediverse services.

There are already pixelfed and peertube as fediverse alternatives to instagram and youtube if you want to check them out.
