Like I know there's twilight menu, but I like that you can basically hold start and boot right into the GBA games. I wonder if there is a similar barebones approach to playing DS games?

STOP. SHUT UP. DO NOT MAKE HUGE CLAIMS ABOUT WHAT THIS GAME WILL BE. Please learn from your mistakes.

lol it's funny, all of the articles I see about this game mention that it's a "Zombie MMO" in the title. Like, I get that it was suggested that it would be, but it's objectively not.

I use it in my normal Firefox setup, but I've been playing with Mullvad browser and I've kept everything to the defaults so I have a good option when I want a little more anonymity without needing the nuclear option (Tor) for sensitive-ish-but-really-not-all-that-sensitive browsing.

I'd like to add Redirector into the mix, and my inclination is that it shouldn't affect the fingerprint because everything is handled clientside from start to finish with that add-on, and the redirect is handled before the browser even connects to the redirected site. With that said, I'm honestly not 100% sure if simply adding an extension of any kind would be enough to change the fingerprint and cause me to lose out on some of that sweet, sweet herd anonymity.

Anyone know the answer to this that can fill me in? I would appreciate it. :)

Is anyone here familiar with using DoubleDouble? It seems like you can download from a bunch of services, but you can only search from Spotify or Apple. Is that correct?

I am trying to track down an album in FLAC format that is not on Spotify or iTunes, but it is on Amazon Music, yet DoubleDouble can't seem to find it even if I paste in a direct link to the album. Am I doing something wrong, or is that just how it works?

Hi! I have some newb-ish questions, and I was hoping some Fedora veterans could help me out.

I have been using the KDE spin of Fedora since 36, and I love it. I distro-hopped for years, but I have not had any interest since landing on Fedora. I have been using the KDE spin because I love KDE. I love how lightweight yet feature-rich and customizable it is. It can really be anything I need it to be, and it's amazing.

With that said, there are two recent happenings that have made me question whether I should switch to the original GNOME version:

  1. I've been having some minor issues lately with F39, like audio not working after I reboot, so I had to eeventuakly remove it altogether and use pipewire, which has been working better. Nothing big, but minor issues like that. I've heard that the GNOME version performs better and is more stable/has less bugs, but idk if there's any truth to it?

  2. I have an Nvidia GPU. Wayland support is pretty bad for me, and I've been relying on X11 all this time. Recently, it was confirmed that Fedora will be dropping X11 support altogether in F40. I'm wondering if anyone out there has used both KDE and Gnome with an Nvidia GPU that can tell me if there's any difference in Wayland performance?

I kinda don't want to switch to GNOME, because I love KDE, but if it will make my experience better, then I think it's probably worth a shot.

I've been watching Gal & Dino, and idk if I like it yet or not, but I really like the juxtaposition of a more silly, western style cartoon dinosaur that lives with an anime girl. lol

Are there other animes that combine different art styles for comedic effect that are good?

I get the impression that many Gen Zers like to know where everyone is all the time. It's totally normal for them to have each other's GPS locations. Snapchat has a built-in map feature where you can watch your friends move around in real time, and there are other apps that offer this, too. I was blown away when I learned this was so commonly used and people just leave it on, so their social group just knows precisely where they are all the time.

I searched around, but the only thing I could find is that they've had an open issue on their issue tracker for like 6 or 7 years requesting an AppImage release, but they didn't comment on it or respond to it.

I've seen a lot of people online mentioning they would like it, and there's even someone who made unofficial AppImage builds for a short time (but then they stopped after a couple of releases).

Is there a technical reason why they won't? It seems like most big emulators offer AppImage for portable setups these days, so I'm just curious.

I was just accessing some files off a portable HDD and my power went out due to a storm. When it came back on, my HDD wouldn't mount anymore. I booted into my Windows partition and had it scan and repair the drive, and thankfully it works again.

But I'm wondering--did I have to boot into Windows for that? Does Linux have any such utility?

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 running stock Android 13 and I've paired a real Wiimote via Bluetooth and confirmed that it is connected. In Dolphin (ver 5.0-19870), I've set my Wii input to "Real WiiMote" and I've plugged in a USB sensor bar.

I can navigate dolphin with the Wiimote + Nunchuck (I can navigate the game select menu with the joystick on the nunchuck or the D-pad and launch a game with the A button), but for some reason, none of the input works in-game. The B button will open and close the in-game Dolphin menu and the Home button will minimize the Dolphin app and take me back to my launcher, but that's it. I can't interact at all otherwise.

It doesn't give me any options to configure the Wiimote's controls, unless I'm emulating a Wiimote. With the "Real Wiimote" option, I can't seem to configure anything.

Does anyone know what the problem might be or how I can fix it?

Thank you!

I am not disputing the fact that there is a ton of misinformation about Autism on TikTok (and the internet as a whole), because there absolutely is and it's dangerous. But it gives me pause that the researcher behind this study developed and promotes a treatment method that is essentially a cousin of ABA. That makes me incredibly skeptical of what his rubric might be for filtering the claims as factual or not.

TikTok does have a ton of misinformation, projections of learned helplessness, and recommendations of pseudoscience/under-studied treatments; but if you are a TikToker and really want to get ADHD tips there, here are a few users I've found that actually seem to know what they're talking about:

  • HowToADHD (Jessica McCabe)
  • The_ADHD_Nutritionist (Marley Alex)
  • ADHDVision
  • ADHD_Coach_Ryan (ADHD Coach Ryan Mayer)

Though even with them, take what they say with a grain of salt, do your homework, and talk to your doctor/therapist/executive function coach before implementing stuff that may impact your wellbeing. Also, be mindful of recommendations that are also paid sponsorships.

I follow a couple more, personally, but I don't feel comfortable recommending them because their suggestions and the information they provide can be a bit dubious at times.

Man, I am so burned out on the AAA gaming scene. From exclusive content, to microtransactions, to premium currencies, to lootboxes, to pre-order bonuses, to endless DLC, to battle passes, to live service nonsense, to kernel-level anticheat, to it becoming normal for games to launch in a broken state, to NFTs, to absurd pricing/unwarranted price increases, and all the while these companies are treating their employees like shit, crunching, covering up sexual harassment cases internally, and union-busting.

It's nuts to think that when I was growing up, I knew that if a game was made by EA, or Square Enix, or Blizzard, or Activision, that I was in for a good time. Now I avoid all of them, or at least wait for reviews, patches, and sales. I miss the days of going to a shop, buying a cartridge or disc, coming home, and playing the game--end of transaction.

I guess what I'm saying is, thank god for indie devs.

You saw an injustice and felt called to speak up, so you took responsibility and stood up for what you believed in. You did so even knowing that it would be uncomfortable and might cost you a friendship. That was really courageous.

It's normal to feel like shit when you find yourself in a scenario when all the options seem terrible, but your actions show that you have real integrity, and it's okay to pat yourself on the back for that.

It's also okay to mourn the friendship, it's okay to recognize the effect this may have on this person and feel for them, and it's okay to take time to process your feelings about the whole thing; however, I will caution you to avoid delving into self-deprecating territory. Any consequences that they face for what they did will ultimately be because of their own choices--not yours.

Just to drive it home: you aren't getting them in trouble. They're getting in trouble for what they did. What you did was trust your gut and call out something harmful.

Know that everything you're feeling is totally valid, and please be kind to yourself and try to remember that you did the best thing you could in a difficult situation.

EDIT: I wrote this without knowing the details of what happened, then I read your comment about what happened and I am doubling-down hard on what I said. You def made the right call, you are brave as hell for pursuing that, and the person you reported needed to be stopped. It's understandable why your friend didn't press charges (though I personally believe that to be a mistake), but you did right by her and this dude's future victims. It's okay if she doesn't see that, and it's okay if she's upset with you--she's clearly in a very complicated situation right now and her feelings are valid, too--but please know that you absolutely did the right thing.

I adore Calckey/Firefish. It's amazing software, but these are both pretty bad names. lol

I guess Firefish is better, because it sounds like software you'd want to use and not something you have to put up with to file a tax return, but also... why?
