All the advances in toothcare seems to be around fancier electric brushes or other gadgets, but regardless we've never been able to move away from 'brush for 2 minutes'. I want some fancy device I just bite down on and it zaps my whole mouth clean in 5 seconds.

Or alternatively not taking the mobile operators side - being able to charge £10000 data costs to stream a couple of football matches worth of data shouldn't be allowed.

In what possible way does that price come anywhere close to the costs of the providers in servicing that data?

Outer Wilds is so good. A perfect game for Switch. And the DLC included too, which was also superb.

Pity they can't release a way to erase the game from my memory so I can play it afresh. Half the point of the game (and DLC) is just figuring out what the game is. Because I already know what to do I'd just complete it in about 10 minutes so it's sadly not worth me picking it up again.

But anyone who hasn't played it, please give it a go. It's just wonderful.

An hour of grinding - that they will also sell you powerups to help you skip that grind.

After reading the Jon Ronson book "So you've been publicly shamed" where he interviewed a load of people that were outed for both bigger and smaller 'crimes', no, I don't agree with it. Doxxing and other public shaming can have consequences you could not expect.

Plus, what if you get the ID wrong and dox someone innocent? That happens all the time too.

The last election was in 2006. 17 years ago. The median age of people there is only 20. Most of those people didn't vote for anyone, let alone Hamas. And even those that did vote, Hamas got less than 50% of the vote.

Also, nice use of ableist slurs there. Is that really appropriate?

Lens has been one of the most impressive bits of Google tech for years, but it still flies under the radar. I guess they're just going to label it 'AI' now to get people to pay attention to it.

You can't replicate the cinema experience at home, regardless of how big your TV is or how impressive your audio setup is.

Watching some epic sci-fi on the big screen, or communally experiencing some creepy horror movie, or a whole crowd of 100s laughing along together at a ludicrous comedy is something I don't want to give up.

Sure, a lot of films are fine to watch at home but with a decent audience the cinema experience can't be beaten.

I like the fact that the article had to refer to the non-Musk site as XSM instead of its full name of 'X Social Media' because it would just make the article too confusing to use the proper name.

That perfectly illustrates the point.

I suppose it also means that if XSM lose the case because X is too generic, anyone can then set up a rival social media company also called X.

They can probably use the same logo too as it's just Unicode.

It's a movie about a theoretical physicist who became a project manager.

I swapped over to https://www.themoviedb.org years ago and have never looked back.

I don't know why people keep thinking that phones are listening in on every conversation just so they can advertise 'Volvo' at you.

  • they don't need to - we give them loads of data voluntarily based on location data, what we search for, things we buy, things we 'like' on social media..

  • they'd be stung for huge fines and reputational damage if caught doing it.

  • it'd take enormous storage and processing power to manage all that data.

  • Just think about how many things you talk about every day that you've never then seen an advert for (confirmation bias)

  • my Google Home can't understand me when I'm actually talking directly at it asking it a question, so the idea it can seripticiously pick out words while listening through my pocket is implausible.
