Meanwhile, Microsoft is forcing their employees to use Copilot because I guess not enough of them already are, while users on Github are trying to figure out if they can block it. Microsoft is not trustworthy.

I don't advocate the use of death threats - just ask any journalist whether they enjoy receiving those from MAGA cultists.

But sometimes, bad things happen to bad people, and the schadenfreude tastes so sweet.

We are in the third world, Mr. Gill.

I hope they are also using non-Amazon-owned channels to organize, keep in contact with coworkers, and store copies/screenshots of messages and emails. When you organize, assume you are in an adversarial relationship with your employer... because you are.

That line really threw me for a loop. I'm still not used to people just being so casually cruel so openly.

If we can't get bread, maybe we'll finally start consuming the long pork that is rich in flavor.

Given the amount of unreviewed AI slop people keep pushing to critical production code, we'll have the appearance of being more productive while in reality we will be less productive.

Found my old grade school calculator while going through some drawers. It's not programmable or retro (yet) or valuable, but it served me well for many, many years.

Pretty sure I learned the pattern for incrementing binary numbers on this thing while I was sitting bored in study hall before I even knew what binary was.

A bipartisan bill in the Ohio Senate would give free meals to K-12 students in public and non-public chartered schools.

The doge.gov website that was spun up to track Elon Musk’s cuts to the federal government is insecure and pulls from a database that can be edited by anyone, according to two separate people who found the vulnerability and shared it with 404 Media. One coder added at least two database entries that are visible on the live site and say “this is a joke of a .gov site” and “THESE ‘EXPERTS’ LEFT THEIR DATABASE OPEN -roro.”

The newly introduced legislation would make it a felony for men to “discharge semen without the intent to fertilize." It's called the "Conception Begins at Erection Act."

Hundreds of Ohioans from across the state gathered in near-freezing temperatures to protest at the Ohio Statehouse Wednesday. It was part of a national movement known as “50 states, 50 protests, one day” event, also known as the “50501 movement”, had one main theme - to criticize President Trump’s first days in office.

Found Cat (midwest.social)

Found a lost cat at the park this week. Hopefully I can find her owners soon. In the meantime, she has certainly made herself at home.

I suspect 1-2 years old but hard to say. Female. Unsure if spayed. No collar or chip. Very sweet and friendly. Planning to get her to the vet for a checkup ASAP. She's a bit skinny so was probably lost for a few days, and definitely has an appetite now.

I hope she wasn't dumped, because some people really don't like black cats, and also leaving cats in the wild is very bad for the environment.

PSA please chip your pets, even if they're indoor pets!

When I first learned about passkeys it sounded like nothing more than a vendor lock-in cash grab dressed up as security. This new spec might actually improve the situation and make them useable across more platforms and systems. Assuming Apple, Google, and Microsoft don't find a way to screw it up again.
