You were right, the style change is very noticeable, but id still say it's a worthwhile read.

Oh man, have you met an everyone? I might be pessimistic, but I think you might be overestimating by quite a bit. A lot of people know how those things work, but knowing enough to replicate even basics feels kinda rare. Even fire, most don't know beyond 'rub two sticks together'.
I'm still bummed that I missed their last tour ever, hope they change their minds and throw a farewell tour, but honestly we were damn lucky to get that one.
I kinda feel like you're not getting as many results because it's not really as complicated in Linux. In Linux, I feel like if it's a good idea to be able to install an item wherever you want, the install process will usually have a step where you get to choose where to put it.
If you're installing your games through Steam, there's also a Storage tab in your Settings that will allow you to create new libraries wherever and then you can just choose whichever one you like to install items to. I think moving your home drive might accomplish most of everything else you want.
Ancient meme, but that's why you have to keep a small version of this in your wallet:

The guy who put this together ended up writing a full book based on the concept.
Latency is not 0 like op suggests but he's not entirely wrong about the latency comparison to modern displays (at a technical level for your average modern display). You are still correct that the numbers are so low typically that it's not an issue for... 99.9% of people. Probably more, we might want to add a lot more 9s to the end.
If we're talking to someone like a top competitive street fighter player though, I'm super interested in how they feel about CRTs vs modern displays. Note that this is also a different conversation if you're on a TV that doesn't have some sort of a Game Mode, those can be rough.
Great writeup on real world CRT input lag: https://www.resetera.com/threads/crts-have-8-3ms-of-input-lag-addressing-a-common-misconception-about-display-latency.40628/
Lol, I bet the houses are real cheap though.
Living in popular areas is expensive, it does suck.
We have those where I am too, but if you drive 45 minutes and avoid the suburbs, the same size house is 25% of the price or less. That's still twice what it was 10 years ago, but it is what it is at this point.
He could have phrased it better, and like maybe you could just be having a bad few days, but he's probably not entirely wrong man.
Ask yourself, would you want to hang out with you? Would you like you? Whether you answer yes or no to that, follow up by asking yourself why and think about how you feel about the answer.
My Linux gaming problems have almost always ended up being KDE or Wayland problems and are mostly my own fault for running Arch.
Beyond those, there are a few very popular games that purposefully lock out Linux users. They usually blame it on cheating/hacking, but most major anticheat developers tend to support linux. Prime example of this is Destiny 2, you're probably not going to play that on Linux. If you plan on anything with VR, you may still have a rough time, but Valve is probably working on something there.
There's a complicated solution and there's an easy solution.
The easy solution is fire.
I used to know someone who went all in on the carnivore diet for some health problems they were having and... it seemed to help. They developed some brand new problems but recovered enough and were mostly back to being a functioning member of society. After several years carnivoring though, they found out that the real problem was just a truly staggering amount of mold in their apartment complex and they moved and pretty much fully recovered and went back to a normal diet.
Long story, basically, just kinda wonder how common it might be for people who have health problems that they speculate could be solved by the carnivore diet are actually being unknowingly exposed to toxic levels of mold. Still anecdotal obviously, but kinda weird to see it happen twice. Maybe the mold makes you eat meat?
