You should really change your wipers more. The blades crack and become ineffective with age even if unused. Maybe not every year but every couple years!
Afaik I've used ALL the lemmy apps on android. Connect is by far the best. It was kinda neck and neck with thunder and infinity for a bit, but the 1.0+ release implemented some amazing features, while still keeping the most functionality and managing to avoid the "scroll stuttering" that plagues other apps. Infinity (now eternity) is also good but account switching is more difficult and you can't block instances or communities from theain page like you can on connect. Example fo why that's lame - say you're scrolling by all and theres a bunch of gay/furry/anytypeofpornyoudontwanttosee...on many apps you have to GO to that communities main page just to block it. On connect you just tap the three dots menu and pick which you want to do. Easy peasy.
You thought this was ....Ceti alpha six....
It was at that exact moment Kahn realized he was about to fuck all kinda shit up.
Stop talking to people about it? Nobody has ever offered me car advice unsolicited, whether you are doing it consciously or not, you are introducing the topic into conversation and they are providing their 2 cents. At that point it isn't unsolicited, you have broached a topic where everybody has personal experiences and opinions. Expecting people not to provide their input is unrealistic. So if you want to avoid that, keep the car topic to yourself and don't mention it.
Also, idk where you live, but you do not need to haggle at the dealership or with anybody these days. All manufacturers have their trim prices and options available on their website, can ping inventory, and quote delivery timelines to your local dealership if not available in your area. You can buy your car start to finish online, and in many cases have it delivered straight to your house. Most dealers have a completely online sales division now. There are also tons of apps and services that can check inventory, options, and prices without ever speaking to a sales person.
Also wasn't there a famous video of BMW showing how to mechanically perform every task on their all electric sports car? From car doors to hood releases to way more niche things 99.9999% of people will never use or even know exists?
I'm in Cancun and my hotel charges $35 for sunscreen. Extortion happens in tourist spots, everywhere, always.
7 pro is my favorite phone ove ever owned, finally unseating the v30 which was criminally underrated at the time. I wish there was something better that wasn't made by Google, but I have always been disappointed with my Samsung devices (Galaxy Note OG, Galaxy s7edge, S9). I felt trapped by them and they always had SO MUCH BLOAT. The s7 was the best of the bunch. I've had about as many pixels (2pro, 3pro, 6, 7 pro). They've all gotten better with each iteration, but I saw no reason to even consider a pixel 4 or 5. 6 was a huge step up but had some build quality issues. Overall I liked the design choices. I would still have my six but I was having a battery issue that couldn't be fixed so they let me trade it in and shaved $100 off the 7pro for me in lieu of doing an RMA that late into the life cycle. 7 pro is excellent. I won't be getting a new phone until this one is dead.
I don't think the commenter is saying/said Elon isn't successful. What the commenter is saying is that Elon is successful at funding other people ideas and then taking credit for them as his own. Essentially, it would be like the producer of a small movie that becomes a huge hit taking credit for the entire movie despite having very little to do with it. Didn't write it, didn't direct it, didn't cast it, didn't market it, etc etc etc.
The flip side is along the lines of what you are saying. That movie may have gotten made without that producer, and may have been just as big a hit without them ever touching it....but we'll never know because that producer recognized the potential and funded it and is now permanently tied to it. And, because they produced it, they made a shit load of money as well. You can't say that producer isn't a successful one, even if they also somehow deluded themselves into think they are the world's best director, writer, casting director etc at the same time.
The legislation is really slow to catch up to these things, as it says in the article. It sounds like other alternative transports have been greenlit in recent years, and those also took time. I empathize with both sides. On the one hand, people have found a lower cost, highly efficient way to get around without a car - that's a very good thing! On the other hand, people aren't used to them being on the roads, they technically aren't supposed to be yet, and they aren't insurable just yet, there's no agreed upon operating procedures for them to be on public roads, and it's a matter of time before someone hits one and they argue they had no way of knowing to even look for that type of vehicle and they're currently not wrong. Nobody wants that but it will happen.
Hopefully they can catch up to the times and get them okayed, but until then the tickets unfortunately make sense.
I feel like it was way more glitchy last week but theyust have rolled an update because now it's absolutely solid. Thunder is nice too but it gets lost scrolling frequently. It has my favorite, probably most underrated feature though, which is the ability to tap to unblur NSFW and then re-tap to blur them again. I wish more apps would copy that feature it is SO SMOOTH, and makes me feel way better using card views and browsing with the all filter. Don't have to disable NSFW completely, but I can tap then double tap to see it and hide it again without ever leaving the feed.
Dead cells
You are why downvotes should be more common on Lemmy. You're grossly misrepresenting the article and story.
