Do you live near a university with a dental program? You can usually get cheap work done by student dentists, but there is a longer wait for appointments (UBC has such a program : https://www.dentistry.ubc.ca/treatment/how-to-become-a-patient/).

Not sure if you're in the lower mainland area or not. It might be worth checking out what's available to you in your region.

The province of Ontario revoked his professional license to practice.

You should watch the original Jurassic Park movie - it's a great film. Jurassic World was a soulless reboot.

Pruning, when done with care and strategy, is good for plants. They need their dead and diseased branches cut off so they can redirect their nutrients to better things. Some plants grow too tall for their own good and can fall/break. Sometimes one plants' growth hinders the growth of others by choking out light and nutrients. Lastly, safety of passage ways and stairs is important, as OP has noted already.

Many people do not research the plants and trees they plant in their yard. It's important to know how they grow (vine, shrub, etc) and how big they can become. My parents wound up with a free grape vine on their back fence because the neighbour planted them. They didn't mind the free grapes, but they resented the pruning and sprawl of the plant. Part of being a good neighbour is being considerate to neighbours when choosing foliage for their property.

If you don't like pruning, don't buy plants or trees that need it. You can rehome plants that you no longer want. It's reasonably easy to find local flowers and ground cover for your respective biome that will contribute to biodiversity.

The photo is a bit blurry, so it's unclear what the white specks are. With limited information, it could possibly be

  1. Sun scalding (sun burns for plants)- shade cloth can be used to reduce sun exposure
  2. Insect infestation- check the back of the leaves and stems for unwanted pests
  3. Fungal infestation- humidity plus heat in late summer can cause fungal issues

Alberta is actively destroying their healthcare now. It likely won't survive Smith's term.

You've indicated your respect for your gf, so I didn't figure you'd actually do it. It would make for an interesting piece of dark comedy though.

That would deal with the wire. The brackets glued to the teeth, no.

Re: cost

The cost of fashion braces , especially if they are not being regularly adjusted, should be no/low cost. Most of the cost is in the initial installation and removal, and the monthly adjustment appointments. I seriously doubt she's going regularly.

FYI- discoloration of the enamel can happen as a result of braces due to inconsistent staining of enamel. The longer they are on, the worse it can be. It's possible that she doesn't want them removed for this reason.

Unfortunately not all administrators care, and some can be part of the problem. The school I work at has some endemic culture issues because of the "old boys" club that has been formed by the principal. I am glad that you have supportive administration, but that is less common than it should be.

It definitely has high school or college film "quality" to it. But if you're looking for a film to heckle with friends, it will be sufficiently entertaining.

The film makes substantial changes to the ending and some of the main plot though. The novel makes no mention of credit card companies, and the film ending is an atrocity.

Edit: this was supposed to be for the comment thread about Fight Club but apparently posted independently. Apologies for the confusion.

(Not my cat)

Met this cat in my strata complex today chilling on some steps. It was largely indifferent, until my camera was ready and some screaming children were running its way. Even then it didn't run away! Hopefully I will have the opportunity to make this cat's acquaintance again.

I've had most these for 1-2 years and love how crazy they look.

I thought it was just another leaf growing, but to my surprise it was a bloom stalk. It lasted less than 24 hours before expiring, and a second opened up. It's always cool to get surprise blooms!

Zone 8b

Varieties: Russian blue, white

Grown in potato planting bags for good drainage. They are in the process of flowering, and some have produced a fruit (very poisonous - do not eat it). Hoping for lots of potatoes this year πŸ™‚

The floppy plants to the left are garlic (soft and hardneck Italian). They are fine; they got too tall and fell over.

Saw this guy chilling on my deck railing, and as soon as the camera came out, he struck this pose.

This floofy boi befriended me while on a walk around my strata. He's friendly and wants all the pets and scratches.

My lithops have been in various stages of splitting for the past few months. They have decided to show the process all in one pot! The potting medium is perlite.

I saved this plant from my office 6 months ago because it had nearly no leaves, and now she's green and growing in a unique way. If this is what healthy looks like, it's all good with me.
