2 things:

1: I've gotten disco Elysium, and Ive only played a few minutes, but I don't remember it having rolls like that? How does one know what one is rolling? I played like 20 minutes of it 3 months ago, so maybe I'm misremembering.

2: that's how my brother DMs. I once critfailed a lock picking so badly that my character broke his finger. My brother laughed his ass off

Do you remember which episode? I loved sliders. I'm up for an episode that'll make me depressed about my present!

Honestly, that's fucking genius. They should do murals on elevators doors that change as they open

They said scifi, not fantasy :p

That's not necessarily true for all religions. In Hinduism and Buddhism, for instance, it's fully understood that a lay understanding of the faith is not the same as what a monk would have. Seeking enlightenment is a different path from the life of a householder. In the same vein, Christian mysticism, kaballah, Sufism all have that same tendency towards further spiritual study and the path of an aesthetic.

The problem is with people listening to fucked up preachers and then deciding they have all the information they'll ever need. The problem is with Christians, not Christianity. The religious, not the religion. The religion itself is a neutral thing, just about regardless of the religion we're talking about. It's the people that make it what it is, and those people are varied. Religions are internally diverse, by their nature.

I'll look for it tonight. Reply to this at some point, if you don't mind. It'll remind me to post it for you. Lol

Oh that's kinda cool in its own right. Two birds and all

If you want, I made a little rule sheet designed to printed out in tarot card size to go with the deck. It's pretty minimal, but includes a nice formula for the calculator so you don't have to actually do any math when tabulating scores.

Also, pro-tip: only the takers points matter. You don't have to calculate the scores of everyone at the table, as defenders points are literally worthless. The only thing that matters is if the taker makes their contract.

Can you explain how to do this? I'd make the switch, honestly. Not a super techy person, but I'm willing to learn if it means a Linux phone.

Provided I don't get stuck in a camp before then, I'm about to start nursing school. Once I have a BSN I'm getting my ass to a blue state. In the meantime it's SC and TX D:

It's so worth getting into it you've got people to play with. Online play is a thing, too, but the rules are complicated enough that I had to play with physical cards a few times to really get it. I also slightly updated the rules on it and created a formula for the calculator to make it easier for folks. I didn't so much change the rules for our home game, but updated the scoring. Normal french tarot using half point that made the math difficult for some people, so I moved the decimal and 4.5 became 45, shit like that

Hey, folks, I was just curious if there were any Episcopal (USA) lemmings around here? I've recently begun attending a small episcopal church, after having not been to church since the pandemic began. Before that, I'd only been to church a few times in the last couple decades. I've been really enjoying the episcopal church, and while my own personal belief system isn't 100% in line with theirs, they're one of the closest groups to my own thinking.

I liked the episcopal subreddit before I left that site, and was wondering if anyone has any interest in making a Lemmy community, or if there was one I'm not familiar with.

Hey, folks.

I'm not sure if this is a Jerboa question or a Lemmy question, but is it possible to (or possible to implement) search within a community?

For instance, on this community, I would have loved to have had a search field to search "search" and it only searched the Jerboa community, so I can make sure I'm not reposting something someone else has already asked. It would make it a lot easier to find information, especially in communities geared towards advice or niche information.

I'm not a techy person, though, so apologies if this is something very difficult to implement or a feature that's already there and I'm overlooking it.

Thanks!

Hey, folks! I'm fairly new to hot teas. I've been very much so enjoying my English and Irish breakfast teas, Earl Grey, and a few other Walmart specials. But I find that I think most of them taste weak, and i use multiple bags. I'd like to try a loose leaf, and maybe something a little stronger. I'm not a fan of green tea for the same reason, it feels weak/watery. I'm a US southerner, so I guess I sort of ruined myself to tea strong enough to get out the pot and slap you. Haha.

Can anyone recommend a sampler of stronger teas? I have a fancy kettle that you can set the temperature on if they need some specific temp, as I know some teas do.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Game Recommendation? (startrek.website)

Edit

Sorry I haven't replied to anyone, life got a little crazy. I did not expect this many replies on lemmy! Thank you everyone, and I will be checking out a bunch of these! Thank you so much. :) I really appreciate it.

So, I hope this allowed, if not, I'll remove.

I have a small problem, y'all. I'm a filthy casual, and don't game often. But right now, due to a lot of very stressful things going on, I'm having trouble sleeping. I'd like a game I can play on the deck for an hour or two at night to get sleepy. Here's where the hard part comes in:

It's gotta be cheap (25 or less)

It needs to be not-stressful to play, as in, it works well on the deck, with no fiddling, because I am a dumb and don't understand things

I don't actually know what kind of game I want. I don't care for FPS games, I don't have the time/patience/money for online multiplayer stuff, and I'm not super in super heavy action games.

I like puzzles, platformers, laid back games. Open world is great. Very small games are fun, but I need something that I can play pretty much every night for a while. I loved portal and the Stanley parable, but I'm burnt out on TSP and I've played both portal games several times. I need something with a little more longevity.

Can anyone help with this not at all reasonable request?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm curious about something. I've seen there's a big debate about multiple communities for similar content on different instances, and whether they should coalesce into a single community or remain as multiple communities. I also saw a post about linking sibling communities with automatic cross posting and stuff. I'll level with y'all, I understand coding about as much as I understand wtf quantum foam is. So I don't know how likely that is, or how easy it would be to implement.

But why couldn't we just link to sister communities in the community sidebar. Like reallycoolawesomestuff@lemmy.world could just have a link to reallycoolawesomestuff@lemmy.ml in the sidebar, and vice versa?

I haven't seen any of the communities I frequent do this, and I just wonder why. If both communities did it, it would likely increase the user base of both, wouldn't it?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm just loving on lemmy lately, and wish it were easier to quickly find related communities.

I'm not sure if this is the right community or not, but I'm curious what y'all would think if they came out with a new show set in the Enterprise era. Ent is one of my favorite shows, and I always felt like we got screwed out of some really compelling TV when they ended they stopped making Trek after ENT ended. That era of humanity, the coalition of planets, the filling in of details on humanity's early relationship with the Vulcans. Plus, it has denobulans, and we need more denobulans.

So, I guess I'm just curious if I'm in the minority or not. Would any of y'all be excited if they announced a show in that era?
