the pokémon red/blue soundtracks are some of the finest music ever created. gold and silver as well.
I don’t read much for entertainment. Never have. The focus on “reading is super important” is honestly pretty stupid in my opinion. 99% of the shit people are reading is probably trashier than any other form of entertainment but people act like its a mark of a superior intellect because they are flipping through pages of a book.
I also find the physical act of reading a book to be incredibly distracting from consuming the information therein. I read much more efficiently and enjoyably using digital platforms than I ever did with printed media. I’m in my mid 30’s and probably an outlier for my age group in regards to how I feel about books.
Its just another form of entertainment, should not be put on a pedestal, and is really just as valid (or invalid) as any other form of entertainment—if you don’t find yourself drawn to it then don’t beat yourself up about it. No one is going around belittling people for not watching enough movies during a given annum; why treat reading a book like it’s some great and noble act?
At least your parents are supportive.
Every time id share some creation of mine in my late teens and early 20s with my mom, I’d just hear a random smattering of reports on shit her “friends” (vague acquaintances) had done with no acknowledgement of what I had created.
At least the skills I picked up over the years landed me a job where the things I make are objectively crap and everyone who I don’t really care about sings my praises.
This is the end result of no one actually understanding the notion of “practice makes perfect” and probably some other shit that kids are internalizing these days that I am not privy to.
It’s also really helpful to read again.
No one is perfect, people just get good at stuff by doing it a lot (and can also get worse if they stop doing it). So many friends of mine are always talking about doing creative stuff and how hard it is and yet they never actually just take the first step to try anything.
Ship sinks 4 days into journey—all lives lost.
just make a new PC if you want to and have the money—hardware is always going to be new and better and cheaper. If you're sitting here 10 years from now and are patting yourself on the back that you got an out of date component for a little cheaper than it was when it was new, uh… what’s the point?
You can always chase the build fairy or just pull the trigger and make a pc—regardless it will be outdated the second you boot it up.
Good, let the people who live there live there.
Great, so we can cross off brazen public corpo-assassinations on the cyberpunk hellscape bingo card, eh?
