Woah, those are pricey but exactly what I'm looking for! I might have to bite the bullet and pick them up. Thanks!

The glossy dpad and ABXY buttons are too slick IMO. Does anyone know of good matte textured buttons? Preferably in just plain black but I'm not picky.

I did see the new extreme rate oled buttons but I haven't found anything describing their texture. Plus I'm not sold on clear buttons

Its not a stud, just a piece of fiber board screwed into place. Likely to be used as backing for a patch that never came. I'd just unscrew it and then swap to a double gang after cleaning up the hole

Its not a stud, its a piece of fiber board screwed into place. I'm guessing it was supposed to be backing for a patch that never happened. The double gang would be empty, just a blank wall plate, or half existing coax and half blank

[-] Duallight@lemmy.today 1 points 4 days ago

Yup, it's impressive how bad it is. It's almost more work to be this bad lol. Its even worse if you notice that they didn't cover up the coax ports to paint, so it's entirely clogged up. If I wanted to use them, I would need to cut and re-terminate it.

Yup it's just a backer board there. Easy enough to remove to switch to a double gang, but also easy ish to clean up and patch it, if I don't texture

That looks like an easy option. Might not even have to remove the backer if it lines up right. We are planning on running ethernet but not here. It's the corner of the dining room so it would be useless

No idea what the story behind this is. It's a single gang coax box, and just a hole next to it. Looks like previous owner started to patch the drywall by putting the backer in but gave up.

First time homeowner here. The house was previously owned by an investment firm who cut a lot of corners on renovations at some point. Does anyone have a good resource for fixing botch jobs? A lot of tutorials cover fixing or replacing things that were done properly before hand, and I don't want to spam forums with "How the he'll do I fix this monstrosity??"

My wife and I are quite shit at design but are pretty handy. We recently bought a house, and we want to make the backyard a great hang out spot, but have no idea how to make it look good. I contacted a local landscaper about just paying for a design/plan and we would just DIY it but they never called us back. Is this an okay thing to hire for? Or do landscapers usually want to do the work themselves?

Fantastic movie. I went in without knowing anything other than "People said it was good", and I was blown away.

They should use Lithium Iron batteries for a real LiFe pro tip

The yacht was a bad example. What I'm getting at is that not hating something is not the same as supporting it. I don't support Dave doing this, but I don't hate him for doing it either.

[-] Duallight@lemmy.today 35 points 5 months ago

Yeah, I can see how it could be seen that way. I'm thinking more along the lines of "Dave performs for money. Someone wants to pay a lot of money for a special performance, and it doesn't affect any of his other shows so of course he would do it". IMO what Dave did isn't unethical, but I can see how it could be seen that way. But I also think if the article was "Amazon Execs bought a multi million dollar yacht after massive layoffs", no one would be blaming the yacht manufacturer. Just the execs.

My coiled cable likes to rotate which makes the coil messy. This little 3d print I made keeps it nice and tidy. Hope it helps anyone with similar issues. You can find the files here: https://www.printables.com/model/433584-coiled-cable-lockaligner

Meet Kronk! We adopted him ~3 years ago, after being given up on by 2 other families. When we adopted him, it was clear he was never socialized and is very reactive to other dogs and some people (Specifically men, which makes me wonder what kind of life he had as a pup). We've been working with a specialized Vet and Trainer for 2 years now, and he's on some anxiety meds. He's improved quite a bit, but he's also gotten quite protective of my wife. So while I can walk him with only small reactions, my wife cannot. He's very reactive and is a bite risk when someone gets close. And since he's a cutie black lab, everyone wants to get close to pet him even when he's actively snapping at them since they're "Good with dogs" ๐Ÿ˜‘ Anyways, we found a place that does a 3 week board and train to work with aggression, but I'm not sure how effective they are. I don't think he's going to get much better with us, since we have to focus on safety instead of training. And since he's been given up on twice, I don't want him to think we're abandoning him since its a long program. Does anyone have experience with these type of training programs?

It's not a "worse" display. It's a different display. The only point is that if you want an e-ink phone (either for readability or battery life) this is one of the only options. Assuming it actually launches at least.

I think it's because someone who takes enough Road trips to use something like that would properly just get a regular plug in hybrid. That being said, this might be coming soon for ev trucks actually. The dodge ram ev is going to have a gas powered range extender, and I believe ford has patented a bed mounted version for its ev truck.

Looking for recommendations on a streaming box to connect my TV to plex. I have a lot of 4k blu ray rips averaging 80-100mbps and I'm struggling to find a client that can handle it. First I had a Roku, which had network bandwidth issues. So I moved to the new fire stick 4k max, which still buffers like crazy. I don't think its network related because its pulling 500mbps down, and my laptop (which pulls 300 down) can stream it just fine. So any recommendations on a tv streaming box? I've seen the Nvidia shield, and the Mecool KM2 plus deluxe but want to get some opinions before buying anything. Thanks!
