This is part of why, as much grief as it gets, the 4B movement is something that can plausibly gain traction. Because it doesn't really require anyone "outing" themselves and thus putting themselves at risk, it can be done without coordination, leadership, and trust. Boycotts function on a similar premise.

They are a useful tool in some ways, but the issue is the relatively limited scope of what these sorts of efforts can accomplish.

There's a reason that building egress (at least for commercial) is the way it is, with things like push bars and opening outwards. It's because people do not think clearly in emergency situations.

That's why I would advise against directly confrontation means of protest. Instead look at things like malicious compliance, boycotts, 4B / birthstrike, anticonsumption, and other acts of non-participation. Labor strikes will probably be common, but those can be rather risky.

Governments know how to deal in violence. Don't give them a target to aim at.
