German intellectual here. I and others have been severely beaten, harassed and fired on multiple occasions for being intellectual.

Pointing out a flaw in someones plan, finding errors in reports (that are actually important to its findings) and other work related things.

It very much depends what region in germany and what class you‘re born into. If you‘re vastly different from your surroundings, you‘re in for a bad trip.

I agree 100%. Commenting on an old post was different over there. But I think my original point still stands. Peeps who want this place to thrive need to make a post every now and then. :)

Exactly. You hit the nail on the head imo. I didn’t even think about this particular mechanic until you mentioned it.

People are so used go „reaction content“ and „reacting“ passively that this place does not grow as fast as it probably could if people were more creative. Creativity is like a muscle. If you don’t train it, it’s really weak.

So, I think it’s very much a good idea to put some easily visible „suggestion“ somewhere that this place will improve as much as you make it by posting original content ie questions and ideas.

Good question! I have read about your instance a couple times I think and that kind of makes you a small celebrity in my book. :)

I really don’t like the word agile since everyone I ever met who had this in their job title was blowing up steam someones butt. Is that the job description or what is it with these agile types?

Tell me about it. Grew up poor, kicked out of school due to undiagnosed neurological stuff.

I did manage to build a company out of thin air (and working 16 hrs a day). Then covid happened. I‘m rather gonna starve than go back an suck corpo cock.

Can absolutely relate. Just seeing nsfw if you‘re not anticipating it is very weird.

[-] Haui@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 year ago

Good job! Can you please elaborate for me and the others how you did it? What did you say specifically?

[-] Haui@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 year ago

Thank you. Could not have said it better.

What exactly are you trying to convey? That these „works“ made by ordinary people who have only a basic understanding of copyright law should be deleted if someone feels like it? That the law is more important than justice?

Also, do you really think you‘re cool by implying things phrased as a question? Won‘t you just talk like a normal person and state your opinion instead of fake-calling-out others?

I‘m using watchtower. Unless you tell it to delete old containers directly, you always have the „old version“ usable. Depending on what your container runs (e.g. a database that is unusable in case of rollback), you could add a manual db dump (probably can add that script to watchtower) which you can then reimplement in case of failure.

But honestly, a solid backup of my configs/files combined with watchtower is pretty neat. No need to intervene at all.

Good luck. :)

Sure dude. Sounds like you might have gotten a gray hair or two already dealing with this stuff, prepare for more.

Being an entrepreneur is very hard. It begins rough and doesn’t ever become easier. You just get used to it. One reason why most long time owners are pretty rough around the edges.

First of all: I don’t know how to make a multi person start up work. I did it on my own and employed people instead of searching for partner. Partners were what nearly brought me down.

Thad said, I would probably start with a business plan. Thats what I always do and have done for others as well. Most plans have holes. Writing a business plan uncovers those.

Then you let someone with experience look it over. A tax specialist, a lawyer, someone who knows sales and marketing. Let them poke holes in it, be thankful and go back to the drawing room. Repeat until nobody can poke holes.

At this point you will be feeling like multiple cars ran you over. It’s devastating but if you can stand up after every grueling feedback, your plan and you are ready for war.

Never let anyone you would not trust with your life touch or see it except the mentioned specialists.

Then you start talking to people about your finished idea and see if people want to work with you.

If not, you go to a bank (probably multiple) and pitch your idea. Again, be prepared for gang**pe style feedback and grow with it.

Ultimately someone will trust you. Think of the inventors in history. They ran around with their idea and got thrown out 99 times before someone believed them.

So, welcome to the world of entrepreneurs. Yes, we are insane. If you want to join, you need to become insane as well. Good luck. :)
