If you don't already know what desktop you're going to use I'd suggest KDE Plasma. It's pretty close to Windows out of the box, and as another comment pointed out there's Tiled menu for it which is basically a clone of Win10s menu.

Funnily the first time I tried Linux on my desktop was because I wanted to play BF4 but the EA App refused to launch on Windows 10 even after restarting/reinstalling everything.

I slapped Pop_OS on a backup SSD and got it running through Lutris within the hour.

Origin was a fucking nightmare to use even on Windows, and honestly...the EA desktop app wasn't really an improvement.

Windows 10 LTSC 2021 edition has support until January 13th 2032.

I'd obviously prefer if more people gave Linux a try but if you're literally forced to use Windows then it's probably your best option right now.

I don't use Ubuntu but I threw it on a laptop to give to my dad.

He's a very basic tech user he basically needed a web browser and somewhere to backup/view his photos off his phone, And even he ran into issue with snaps!

I tried to switch everything over to flatpak but the OS just kept pushing back trying to reinstall SnapD until I ran some script off Github, It's the exact "I know better than you" bullshit that pushed me away from Windows.

Honestly the only people I try to "convert" to Linux are my friends who already hate Windows, which is most of them these days.

Sadly a lot of them either still regularly use programs we can't get running on Linux yet (okay it's mostly Fortnite...). Or they're not the most tech literate people and switching to a whole new OS seems like an impossible task.

Only gotten two peeps on board the Linux train and they both had previous experience with it from school or work.

User agent switcher has fixed those issues 9/10 times for me.

I've also had times websites like Outlook or Youtube just run faster after lying to them about using Edge/Chrome...

I actually started using Firefox in my early teens just because I liked the look of the Ui and themes better than Chrome.

I've also recently switched to Librewolf ;)

Honestly the AUR is the main thing stopping me from distro hopping...that and laziness

The 2 pixel wide scroll bar has been a pet peeve of mine for a while on my 1440p display.

Thank you stranger!

KDE is what finally got me to switch from Windows.

Out of the box I found it a better user experience than Windows 10s desktop, but having it be stupid easy to customize and theme on top of that has made me never wanna go back.
