In theory, I could just have a downloadable .apk for Android to circumvent the fee but most people don't want to install a random .apk from the internet.

You could've considered F-Droid.

Soo, yeah that'll probably not happen :(.

It's sad. Anyway, good luck with future development!

Nah, I've switched to KeePassXC already. I've never been happier.

[-] JustMarkov@lemmy.ml 14 points 3 weeks ago

Thanks, I've long lacked the motivation to switch to KeePassXC. Now there's nothing keeping me on Bitwarden anymore. Canceled my annual subscription.

Keyguard is not open-source, only source-available.

Because Brave is literally a spyware.

FlorisBoard is my favourite FLOSS Android keyboard. Waiting for swype-typing feature to be implemented to it.

SimpleX is currently my favourite. Yeah, there are some small concerns, but where aren't they? I hope SimpleX can grow more popular and I'm also waiting for a full-featured desktop client, so it'll be easier to convince people to switch.

I am a fan of Louis Rossmann.

All of the software's code should be completely open source.

Ironic.

[-] JustMarkov@lemmy.ml 12 points 3 months ago

Not exactly. Proton is still for-profit, they just now have a non-profit foundation behind it. Just like Mozilla does.

But my favourite so far is FUTO Keyboard.

Note, that FUTO Keyboard is proprietary, as its code is being distributed under source-available license: https://gitlab.futo.org/keyboard/latinime/-/blob/master/LICENSE.md

Ah. Of course. Something being open source doesn't make it open source. It all makes sense now thank you for clarifying.

If the license doesn't meet the OSD, then it isn't open-source, but just source-available. You are welcome.

That also wasn't technically a response to my comment, it was an ideological defense mechanism to avoid addressing the content of the license.

It was. I pointed out, that FTL is a proprietary license. Because: «Open source doesn't just mean access to the source code» © OSI
