I think it would have been cool to have 1 or 2 Kazon episodes, and then maybe a surprise one or two seasons later when Voyager discovers they had been followed or something. But it was just not a good idea to try and make them the main antagonists as long as they did.

Sarek felt that he could have demonstrated more affection towards his human wife in a way that was meaningful to her. That is not the same thing as saying that Vulcan culture is unaffectionate, or that other Vulcans would consider Sarek as not affectionate.

Not in New York City apparently but yes hopefully they're more affordable for smaller libraries.

OP is referring to Vulcan culture. Sarek's displays of affection would probably not be considered "restrained" in a Vulcan-Vulcan relationship.

Good advice, also Fedora's "atomic" distros are both bleeding edge and extremely stable!

I agree with you completely. No disrespect to Mint, but immutability is (IMO) possibly the most important advancement for Linux adoption in its entire history. I would love to see more distros release immutable versions.

I don't know if it's correct to say that Vulcan culture is unaffectionate, just thay they don't express affection in the way you are used to. Remember: Spock was played the way he was in the 1960s to demonstrate the distance humans are willing to go to tolerate other cultures, no matter how (literally in this case) alien.

There's definitely a lot to unpack in suggesting that their culture deserves to "fail" because they do not assimilate (lol) into your culture.

Am I taking crazy pills or does the first panel does not reflect reality whatsoever? In my experience, Americans (the citizenry) regularly, openly, and loudly criticize and/or mock dictators and oppressive regimes, the federal government historically does not allow for normal business or trade to occur with them, and in several cases in recent history (for better or worse) the military physically intervenes.

The function of accounts like the one you are replying to is to encourage cynicism and inaction among otherwise anti-fascist people.

Failing that, they will try to exhaust you with “debate”.

I know what some of those words mean!

I have an aging Kindle and am looking for a new eReader to both read books and articles I've saved throughout the day. I use Wallabag to save articles. I like it over Pocket because it's better for paywalls because it fetches content directly from the browser.

I am leaning Kobo because of apps like Wallabako and KoReader (not exactly what that is yet but people seem to like it).

Anyone else have a similar setup or have any advice?

Note that r/coolguides is a very "normie" subreddit and may require extra handholding. There are a lot of people who don't seem to understand what "open source" means. Some looking for "The Lemmy app" etc. Be patient and helpful!
