Similar in what nuance? You need some place to pay money to? Try GOG. You can use Heroic UI if you want. It also helps with wine/proton managing.

Why is it bad? Fewer people, cheaper the rent. What's wrong with that? Of course that isn't good for the rentier but anything that harms the rentier is good for people.
