It's not necessary to convert it if you don't want to. I'm just commenting, in case you didn't know. And probably some users don't realize that post was a gif lol. Because it just looks like a picture
To my knowledge, Lemmy can't preview directly for a .gif file. Unless users open the link directly
Just a heads up, it's better to convert them as a .webm file than .gif.
Uploading a .gif file directly like here is quite confusing for users to know because it just looks like a picture (rather than a GIF)
