@keldzh I’d suggest first getting the Warhammer 40K Introductory Set to see if you actually enjoy the building and painting parts of the hobby. If you decide to go on, decide on whether you are interested in small (approximately 10 infantry models per side) or large (dozens of models, including tanks and monsters etc). If small-scale, get the Kill Team starter set. If large-scale, watch some faction introductions (e.g. Bricky), pick one, and get the combat patrol box for that faction.
@keldzh Anyway, something you might want to consider is getting/building/painting combat patrols for more than one faction one by one, before committing to a faction. If you got your favorite right by just reading, then OK, you got a nice way to introduce friends to the game, as you have opposing forces available. If it turns out your first pick was not your favorite after all, then it’s good you found out early.
