If it weren't so sad, it would be almost funny.

So many people are waking up to the fact that... Most people are functionally illiterate children with no understanding of the world they live in.

The easiest way I have to explain it:

You use your phone every day. You know how to use it, menus in and out, all the different programs and their uses. But if I were to pop open the cover and take one single piece out, you would never know, and you would never be able to use it again. Without someone else, you have absolutely no clue how to go about fixing it. You can push it's buttons all day, but when it comes down to how it functions at the basic levels, you are clueless.

So am I, by the way. I don't have any reason to know how to build or program a phone. Or computer. I can push their buttons all day though! Even hidden buttons. But if everyone else on the planet disappeared tonight, I would effectively be living in the 1500s, as that's about where my technical understanding of things ends. (scavenging for replacement electronics notwithstanding, once something electronic breaks, it's gone since I can't exactly run a semiconductor factory by myself, or the mines to get the materials)

My point is, most people only know how to "push the buttons" of the world. They have very surface-level understandingsof it. But when it comes down to it, they don't understand how the internals actually function.

Sorry if this rambled a bit, I hit the bowl as soon as I got home from work.

Something tells me that unlike every other role where he makes people jump through hoops every game regardless of how many decades they've voiced the same character, he did not make Hideo Kojima audition for the voice.

I'm not bitter or anything, why do you ask?

I've heard plenty of people try to say WOLFENSTEIN glorifies nazis

I've had one idiot tell me ANY media that paints them as competent or successful is glorifying them. And setting anything in a world where they succeeded and progressed technologically instead of collapsing is basically saying Hitler's world view is valid.

I still don't know how to respond to that beyond "if you think the nazis were incompetent you don't know history, and if you think showing a future where fascism took hold is unrealistic I have some bad news for you"

It's fantasy, and specifically a fantasy in which you get to go on a massive killing spree against some of the worst people in history, how you can somehow pull "this game is making these guys look good" from that, I'm not sure.

The only time I've ever said fuck in front of my mother was when she cut across 3 lanes of traffic to get to the exit, and ended up getting stuck in the zebra divider until there was a big gap in traffic.

When she slammed on the brake and jerked the wheel, upon realizing she wanted to make the exit I just yelled "What that FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?"

Surprisingly even though I was still in high school, she never mentioned it. Either she realized she fucked up and let it slide or she didn't hear me over the honking of cars, a semi, and the yelling of my dad and sister.

"drying funds"

Have we checked to make sure they don't have a banana stand nearby? Specifically looked at the walls?

I was today years old when I realized that she was talking to Homer Hickam, and I've seen the movie October Sky more times than I can count.

This sounds like something that was made up for a fallout game.

Of course, so does "bombarding myself with xrays and moving around to entertain the audience looking at my bones" and "including uranium in paint to make watch dials glow"

I just assume like 75% of the people who read posts like this a believe the poster's intended message simply live in areas with such poor public transport, the idea that there are not only multiple busses running to the same destination, but those busses are full Is simply so alien to them, they just assume something fucky is going on.

I lived in a small city in Ohio, and I gotta say.... It was wild being in Columbus for a convention and being able to catch a bus on my own street within minutes of walking up to the stop, and seeing a mostly full bus.

The few times I used my home city's transportation, I had to leave early enough to walk a good mile to the nearest stop (where I had to wait about 20 minutes since the bus was 10 minutes late), and make all the appropriate transfers so that I get to work on time, and I was one of three people on the bus usually. And I arrived at my destination a full 45 minutes before I needed to be there, but it was that or walk for several hours both ways.

Functional public transport is an alien concept when your nearest neighbor is half a mile down the road.

I'm already loving to misuse slang around all the nieces and nephews. They're all 3-14, so it changes depending on which kid is around, but the eye rolls are fantastic.

We need to tap into the power of the cringe and we might have an unlimited energy source.

"problem with authority" is just What authorities say when what they mean is "constantly questions our reasons and doesn't just immediately do what we SAY exactly as we MEAN it like a ~~good little puppet~~ beloved citizen"
