Right. That's why I said partly false. Perhaps, "not the whole truth" would be better working? By stating the cities vote left and leaving it at that implies they always vote left, when they don't. All I was saying. Thanks.

This is partly false. Edmonton and Calgary vote blue federal and usually orange for provincial. Results from the last federal election https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.6183209

Provincial - https://globalnews.ca/news/9633315/live-alberta-election-results-2023-vote/

Which I think has a lot to do with union and provincial government employees. But I'm just another stupid Albertan.

I don't know anything about how that stuff works. But considering it's on Steam and has no dedicated servers you choose and it's cross platform would it not have to talk to a lot of different servers simultaneously? Like, I can squad up with my buddies from the UK while I'm in Canada and also have someone on ps5 in the USA. None of them experience lag. Seems like it isn't your normal every day "net code" most other games would have to accomplish

They really aren't. The labor that went into it is already paid in full, even if what the labor created earns for another 20 years, that labor won't see another dime for it. Can't steal what isn't there

Final Space, nothing beats it for me. I'll be empty and hollow until Olan releases the graphic novel they're letting him license to finish off the story from season 3 since it was cancelled with one of the time warner mergers.

Vox Machina and Chernobyl(HBO) were close contenders though.

Not American. But even if I were, no I wouldn't tip. It's not my responsibility to pay someone's wage while the business opens up at another 2 locations in my city

[-] Slabic@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago

I never implied it was "admirable". I shouldn't have to supplement a workers shitty pay, so I don't. What makes a waiter/waitress more entitled to a tip over someone who stocks shelves at a grocery store or works in the fast food industry? Also I'm not American, shocking I know. If an employer isn't going to pay their staff a proper wage in your country then that's between the employer and employee

I think I'm in the smallest minority, but I haven't tipped in close to a decade. When people ask me why, I answer with the question "when was the last time you tipped your grocer l, fast food window attendant or the person at the hardware store that brought out your 100lbs of lumber? " answer is always never and I say exactly.

So everything you listed is something scheduled. Something people prepare for. Water suddenly not working is neither of those things. Ignorant take

I don't disagree. It's why I don't support private even if I did put money into it with dad's situation out of desperation. I support socialized because it makes the most sense from top to bottom and I hope it can be fixed.

There's been privatized healthcare in Alberta for quite a while already. There's also privatized insurance and somewhere around the 70-75% mark of health care services are ran by private firms although they abide by provincial and federal guidelines and regulations. While I don't support privatized healthcare my confidence in socialized healthcare has been shaken the last few years. In the last 5 years there have been 7 people in my little circle of people I know personally who have went to other countries for care because they couldn't afford to wait the 6 months to 2 year wait.

Most recently my father. Was in dire need of a hip replacement, a month maybe 2 from being in a wheelchair which would leave him unable to work as he runs a business in the oil patch in Saskatchewan. With an estimated 9 months left, we as a family decided he's going to Mexico. We got the money together and he had a new hip 6 days later. 6 days. Yes, it costed $30,000US(45,000US for private in canada and estimated 75,000 in the states) for the hip surgery and a 2 week all inclusive for recovery before flying back home. But it was done in less than a week. Canada is ranked last place out of all the socialized healthcare countries for wait times.

Friend took his kid to the Stollery here in Edmonton a couple months ago with a broken arm, 12 hours before a doctor looked at him. I just don't know anymore. While I don't agree with anything this new cunt of a premier says, private existed long before her.

Oh, an important edit. The 45000$US estimate for Canada was a private clinic in Montreal, so it's not just Alberta. Just wanted to clarify that since people generally love shitting on Alberta for... Anything.

Re read what he wrote. He said without including that or some form of. For example, Elon put a larger carbon footprint into the world in one week with his jet than most of us will over the course our lifetime. Does it mean we shouldn't do our part? No. We definitely need to do and be better. It would take only a few of the biggest contributors to make a big impact while it would take thousands, if not millions, of us.
