@ObtuseDoorFrame@lemm.ee unfortunately, the only premium camera-focused phone with a headphone jack left on the market is the Sony XPERIA, and the XPERIA 1VI was kind of a downgrade from the 1V. I don't know what the 1VII will look like, but right now I'd take Vivo and Xiaomi camera phones over Sony, Apple, Google, and Samsung.

I always wait for updates before producing a phone camera DEEP dive, and I'm glad I held off. The Vivo X200 Pro might be THE best premium phone camera of 2025.

Here's a 40 minute look at the performance and optics for my Patrons!
A cut down version of this video will be available publicly later in the week. πŸ‘

I LOVE answering subscriber questions on my Patreon, but last week I might have gone a little TOO HARD in the replies... 😬

Waited for some updates, and collected GIGS of photo and video samples, and it's time to share my thoughts on the phone camera I used while traveling through India!

Oppo Find X8 Pro Camera Conclusion: Properly "Pro"?

@DdaProphet@techhub.social thanks. Really happy how it came out.

Pink Winter Garden Rose
A cute little rose found some sunlight this morning.
Shot from the X200 telephoto. Even the NON-Pro version of this phone has a solid camera system...

@FurtiveFugitive@lemm.ee it's such a fun little flyer. The camera quality bump is REALLY nice.

@dohpaz42@lemmy.world I'm way behind on peertube. I am looking to get more involved with it soon.

I'm really proud of how this video came out. All the "talking to camera" footage was captured by the HOVERAir (with a special shout out to the Saramonic mics recording).
I dont usually do outdoor shots like this, and the drone nailed these simple "walk and talk" shots.
You'll absolutely be seeing footage from this action camera in future videos of mine.

I'm not a drone guy, but an auto-tracking 8K floating camera is TOTALLY my speed! HOVERAir X1 PROMAX is GO!

Zero Zero Robotics sponsored this video to ask if an automated drone can REALLY be called "PRO". Let's take a look at some flying footage!

I know everyone is pushing affiliate links for Black Friday, but can we spend a minute complaining about fake camera shutter buttons on phones?
https://somegadgetguy.com/b/4E6

It's a clever idea for an action button, but we've already tried this idea of tacking more features onto a phone shutter button. It didn't go well before...

@Spiralvortexisalie@lemmy.world on the day we went, the air was a lot clearer at the Taj Mahal than in Delhi, but I still needed a mask.

@Cris_Color@lemmy.world glad you enjoyed them 😊

@Zachariah@lemmy.world that one's my favorite too 😊

Gave myself a challenge to find fun ways to frame the Taj Mahal. It's absolutely stunning to see in person. I like how these shots turned out.
Fighting the urge to just litter my social media feeds with "vacation photos", but this was absolutely a bucket list destination for me.

@thisisjmx@mastodon.social it's been amazing. I'm not the most seasoned world travel, so this is a huge experience for me.

@Overlander_1@techhub.social oh man. I don't know I'll have the time, but I REALLY wanted to.

Spent a couple hours wandering the Khan Market in New Delhi. My street photography chops are a little out of shape, but it was so fun to watch and experience.

Orion was front and center from my front porch this morning. Took a shot in regular mode and night mode from the telephoto sensor.

Sure sure. Election results.
But for those who need a little distraction, I'm seriously disappointed that no other tech outlet has noticed the Pixel 9 Pro camera seems to be manipulating and pre-editing its RAW files.
https://somegadgetguy.com/2024/11/05/is-the-pixel-9-pro-cheating-its-raw-files/

Google cameras are praised for HDR performance, but this style of processing delivers poorer results in lower light. Even when using the new manual controls, the Pixel seems to be overriding the user's input...

@Overlander_1@techhub.social Oh I'm with you on generative AI slop, but I will admit to enjoying the output of NPUs since the Huawei Kirin chips back in the day.
THat's how we got cameras that could identify subjects, then later we got Sony's amazing eye tracking autofocus, and now subject detection in photo editing apps.
That kind of on-device practical NPU performance is really interesting.

Making soulless "art" out of prompts? A lot less interesting...
