A libertarian who glamorizes the state as set up by old people in the past. The libertarian to reactionary funnel.

E:

HN: Since you believe in checks and balances, do you believe Trump should be disqualified for running for office, for using violence, intimidation and lies to attempt to change the results of the last election? As a principled libertarian I'm sure the peaceful transfer of power is at the height of your concerns.

WalterBright: I think I'll spare everyone from yet another Trump vs Harris debate.

Weichei!

Xml also used to be a tech hype for a bit.

And i still remember how media outlets hyped up second life, forgot about it and a few months later discovered it again and more hype started. It was fun.

You don't understand, let me reason it from first principles. The Olympics are good for world peace, everybody comes together, we have some fun races some nations win some lose, we all go home happy and pretend it was our nation that won in spirit. Ergo races are good. Therefore an arms race is also good. It will save countless of lives, they are like the Olympics, Ares was the god of peace really (I asked chatgpt).

N = 2 (this and judge dredd) right now, but was there a rise in fiction in the 70's/80's where they did the 'people live their whole lives in a skyscraper and didn't come out' thing? Is there some underlying societal fear I'm not super aware of? Or am I making too much of two examples?

iirc Yud and lesswrong is also more of a sidenote in that essay, as the thing is about Neoreaction. A think Yud used to be not that a fan of (and that might even be in the essay itself). Perhaps the shift in attitudes towards LW can also be explained because they are more and more accepting of things like NRx and the line between them is made less and less clear. For example see this article esp the part about neoreaction a basilisk ;).

Couldn't be happening to a nicer town

And if you wondered, would that also be a sundown town? Wonder no more.

Not a sneer, and as such NSFW, but here is a short hbomberguy style video: I Debunked Evolutionary Psychology, featuring friend of the sneer PrimalPoly, by the talented münecat.
