Thank you for the very well thought out and detailed post!
Wow good for UPS workers. As a tech worker I can say I'm genuinely happy for them. They have a hard ass job. A win for labor is a win for labor, regardless of which type.
Vow didn't say nothing about being alone with other men 😏
Yup that is a real rough pill to swallow when the default is free AND no ads. If I'm going to drop money on lemmy I'd rather just donate to whoever is hosting my instance.
While this would make a big statement, the real victims would be innocent teenagers. Arguably we should be doing the opposite and trying to get as many of them out of that state as possible.
- Maintaining a balance of calories in vs out is really hard. In particular fats are extremely difficult to acquire.
- Getting almost anything done requires hard manual labor, which means you need even more calories.
- Harsh winters mean food scarcity and burning even more calories just keeping warm.
- You're completely fucked if you get sick or injured.
- Boredom, loneliness and stress could drive you insane.
It's also an oppressive police state where huge portions of the population live in poverty and endure awful working conditions. Oh and they're actively engaged in genocide against a minority ethnic group. But sure if we just ignore all the downsides it's great.
As a former Boost for Reddit user I've been digging Jerboa. Definitely going to check out Boost for Lemmy once it's available too.
Appears that this doesn't include July numbers. I think most of the people leaving Reddit, myself included, didn't do it until our 3rd party apps actually got killed on July 1st. Will be interesting to see these numbers at the end of the month.
I like it a lot. Feels like early days Reddit. I do miss some of the niche reddit communities, but on the other hand the main lemmy continues seem much more approachable. My biggest complaint is that Lemmy can be pretty slow at times.
btw the spaces in the links provided by OP effectively break the links if you're not based on the community's home server. Would be really great to get this updated.
It's terrifying how similar the Trump playbook is to that of a cult leader. Convincing someone that they must trust you over their family and friends is step one to getting them isolated and exploitable.
