So many people who complain about shit that never happened. Y'all are inventing your own boogeymen. There are legit problems with the movies and no one focuses on those. Instead people just make this shit up and go after stuff that was never shown and never occurred. Never seen any other fandom do this.

JK Rowling is the author of Harry Potter and was primarily known for this. Loved, even, for this. An enormous fanbase. Not to say that there weren't issues with her portrayal of POC characters or doses of antisemitic behavior (The Goblin Bank literally has a MASSIVE Star of David in the middle of their lobby) but people still loved her nonetheless.

Yet overtime she started adding random stupid things to canon. People asking about bathrooms and her randomly tweeting in response that wizards used to just shit themselves and then magic it all away. This happened more and more with all manner of subjects that started to really point out she was a piece of shit. When people started talking about her portrayal of various different characters, she sort of went off the deep end. She started getting really entrenched in her position and bitter towards everyone. One of these positions was that trans homies are not homies. The typical "mental illness/grooming/rapists" reasoning. Her position within the fandom fell into utter freefall and fractured an enormous amount of said fandom. This then bled into popular culture as a whole because she's such a popular and influential public figure. She just kept digging and digging and digging and now she's primarily known online as "That bigoted bitch who wrote the wizard books". The entire Harry Potter franchise has become slightly toxic to the touch. Hogwarts Legacy was released to immense backlash and almost none of it was the fact that the game was a raging, repetitive and extremely badly written pile of hot garbage that had no character development or story consequences. Even the actor who played Hermione (not sure about others) came out and said that they would have nothing to do with a Harry Potter continuation or reboot if JK Rowling was involved in any way whatsoever which is what led JK and WB to team up to remake the Harry Potter series. There has been a TV show that was announced with JK herself being heavily involved.

While still a massive franchise and a massive fandom, Harry Potter has aggressively slouched in those ratings and has been inextricably linked to the personal opinions of the author formerly known as JK Rowling. Honestly I just refer to her as "that transphobic bitch who wrote about the wizards" most of the time now.

And there's plenty to like as well. But once again, thanks for looking at this posts description about positivity and flagrantly ignore it to give throwaway negative comments. You did the same thing over on another post earlier of someone saying they like Discovery. I'm so tired of this hatefilled focus on Discovery. So many people here are able to share their opinions about not liking Discovery respectfully and without randomly throwing it in everyones faces. Why do people like you have to always double down and drill in that hatred everytime it's even mentioned? You're just... exhausting.

Edit: Since I need to apparently explain this, NDT is specifically known and not liked for talking about subjects with which he has no knowledge as if he is an expert. Moreover, he will inject himself into random topics of conversation (much like this Halo one) to say that this entirely fantastical thing could never happen in reality because of this one specific thing. People are aware of that, he's not giving anyone new information. It just aggressively comes off as "Um, actually " and the fact that he will do it in the exact same tone of voice every single time is just grating.

Moreover, as pointed out elsewhere, NDT was a wrestler in high school. HE was the one doing the bullying in the first place which clearly extrapolated into his professional career given he was accused of sexual harassment by 4 women and then admitted it with bizarre ass justifications. So yeah. Fuck Neil DeGrasse Tyson. No I'm not pro putting neurodivergent youth into a locker and it's frankly idiotic to even suggest that or come to that conclusion. What I am pro is Neil deGrasse Tyson finally shutting up and exiting public life after acting like a monumental douchebag for decades.

I post a lot and chat with a decent amount of people. Because of this I've regularly got 20-30+ messages in my inbox. It was bad enough that if I click upvote while typing that it would have deleted my entire message and make me start over. That's fine. I can get over that. I can just rewire around that and just wait or cut the text before doing anything. What's driving me fucking insane now is that instead of being able to mark messages as read and refreshing the page manually, the page refreshes automatically after marking every message as read. I have no idea who the hell thought that would be a good idea but it's idiotic. I either have to mark everything read all at once or suffer through a refresh every single time I mark a message as read.

The other features and what not I'm sure are great but that is such an enormous downside for me that I've barely bothered looking at anything else. Just get frustrated with waiting for a refresh after every message and just going to YouTube or playing a game instead. I'm going to end up just using Boost exclusively for messages, something that just got leaps and bounds better due to threading messages.
