Welcome! Good humor, I enjoyed it.
You can just jump in without playing the first two, for sure. But this is not like Skyrim or Diablo, as it uses a turned based action economy. When you attack or are attacked, the entire game stops, initiative is rolled, and every one in the fight takes their turn to perform their actions (and bonus actions). Everything. just. stops.
So this is not a hack and slash like Diablo or Skyrim, but it is an amazing game. I prefer games that support Real Time With Pause, where the battle can just carry out in real time unless you decide to stop time and micromanage your party, but in this game, every single step is micromanaged. The hype is well earned, and real. But if it's not for you, it's really, not for you. Hope you give it a try.
"Corrupted Stack" should be a swear.
Hell yes. Proton is huge, and Big Picture Mode is basically a console. I feel you on the controller support. With your encouragement, I finally connected a PS4 controller to my PC, and SEAMLESSLY explored a hostile area as a conjured cat. Amazing. (Still not giving up M+K, though....) Cheers!
Not that I strongly disagree with you, but did you see the map in early access? Ha! And at least we got a few things fixed in the inventory system since EA. Sorting and multi-select are key for a hoarder like me. They took so much feedback from early access and fixed most of the worst things they could. But I've been playing since patch 0, so....
Any game that gets anywhere close to being a good DnD campaign is Gold in my book. But yeah; certainly still lots of bits are undercooked and janky.
The first thing that comes to mind is the sheer number of crash reports they were getting early on. I know I submitted probably two dozen myself those first few days. Game is rock solid for me now, though.
The second thing that comes to mind is that they are clearly sucking up a whole lot of data around gameplay. The stats they published on Friday about how people played opening weekend was eye opening to me regarding the amount of data they are ingesting: https://steamcommunity.com/games/1086940/announcements/detail/6199820457241938860
You find yourself needing to check every last crate, barrel, etc., but do you find yourself needing to TAKE every last crate, barrel, etc.? Welcome to my new hell. I know I will take every rotten carrot, but why can't I take the rotting basket I found it in? Why can I only take some vases?
I have a chest at camp full of just chests.
This is the only wiki I've used since release. I totally agree about Fextralife and Fandom. Thanks for highlighting it!
I played the same damn human wizard throughout all of EA. I plan on doing the same for my first run. How boring am I?
Anyone here want to be a mod? ;) I'm guessung we're all going to be a bit busy the next few weeks, and I shouldn't be the only one. I never thought this day would arrive when I set this thing up.
I don't think so, Larian said no preloading before release. I heard that Steam went down when EA was released, so fingers crossed.
I bought it on GOG so I hope it goes up the same time.
Happy release day!
My cat is the only thing grounding me at the moment.
