They might be ESL or have a disability that affects their ability to write. What they wrote here might be a huge improvement over what their English writing looked like a year ago.

Attack their ideas, not their language. Plenty to go after there without targeting the person behind them.

This Thursday, October 24th, the first official Season of The Dynasty Cube begins!

What is The Dynasty Cube?

The Dynasty Cube is a collaborative, living draft format that combines a few concepts, none of which are required knowledge:

To begin, the Draft Pool for The Dynasty Cube will contain almost all of the 500 or so oldest cards from Magic’s history, with the next oldest cards being added incrementally with each subsequent Season. Cards that go undrafted get removed from the next draft, and cards that get drafted repeatedly become more difficult to retain, resulting in an ever-changing pool of cards.

The current Draft Pool for The Dynasty Cube, as well as a more detailed explanation of the draft can be found on Cube Cobra.

In The Dynasty Cube, the decisions you make continue having an effect after each draft. Teams may trade their cards or even future draft picks with each other to improve their draft pool. After each Season, The Teams will vote on new rules and other changes that will take effect in the next Season.

Currently The League has about 30 regularly active members, with each of the 8 Teams having between 2 and 6 participants. Ideally, each Team would have at least 5 active members - the more members on each Team, the smoother The League operates!

What does Team participation look like?

Joining a Team primarily means providing another voice and perspective to help your Team to come to a decision - but you can claim more responsibility than this if you want it!

During a Draft, Team members will discuss in their own private channel their strategy for what kind of deck they want to try to draft, what cards to prioritize with their next pick, what cards may be under/over valued by the other Teams, etc.

They’ll determine one Team member to be responsible for playing out their Team’s matches for the Season, and if that Team does well enough, they’ll have the chance at winning the Championship for that Season!

After a Season finishes, Teams will be presented with changes to The League that they will have the power to vote on to decide whether these changes be enacted.

Who are the Teams?

Below are the current Teams with their logos, colors, and mottos.

The Dynasty Cube is a collaborative, league-style draft in which teams of players draft through the history of Magic, starting with the first handful of sets, and cumulatively adding sets in chronological order in subsequent Seasons. Drafts are done rotisserie style online, with matches played through the following weeks to determine a Champion. The collaborative aspects of The Dynasty Cube have also heavily inspired by Blaseball - expect The League to evolve into something entirely different over time.

The League is currently looking for additional participation to keep the final Beta phase moving before the first Season begins at the end of this month.

The first Beta phase (Season 0) just completed (congrats to the Season 0 Champions, Innistrad Creeps!), and The Season 0.5 Draft begins today, Thursday Oct 3rd. This will be a "Draft-Only" Season intended to work out any bugs in the progression between seasons. The League will reset before beginning the first real Season that follows.

As no matches will be played in Season 0.5 and everything resets shortly after, the stakes are as low as they're ever going to be to jump in and see what The Dynasty Cube is all about!

The inaugural Season 1 will begin the week following CubeCon, with the Draft kicking off Oct 24th.

Additional details about The League and Season 1 list.

It’s that time of year again.

The weather is getting warmer, and your friends are all planning vacations. Sure, you could just go to FNM - or *shudder* spin up Arena - to get your Magic fix, but it's just not the same.

You love the social aspect of Magic. Thrills are hard to come by these days and winning a close matchup against a friend or talking about the latest spoilers with them is still one of them.

But half the people you used to play with have sold their collections off. The ones still playing are often just too busy to come around for a few games anymore.

You think back on simpler times.

Happier days.

Days when Magic: The Gathering was the only thing you and your friends could think about because it was so damn fun. It was social. It was creative. but above all, it was fun.

.

..

We have what you need.

What you crave.

THE DYNASTY CUBE

What is The Dynasty Cube?

The Dynasty Cube is a self-correcting, draft league in which Teams draft through the history of Magic, beginning with ABUR (the original four Magic sets from 1993-1994), and cumulatively adding newer sets in subsequent seasons.

Drafts are done “rotisserie”-style, then matches are scheduled throughout the following weeks to determine THE CHAMPION.

After The Championship match, cards that were drafted become harder to retain in the next draft, the next Magic set is added to the draft pool, and players draft again from the new pool of cards.

As the pool of cards evolves over time, the rules of the game may evolve as well. In The Off Season between The Championship match and the following draft, players will vote to enact new rules to The Draft or to the game itself.

Why is it called a “cube”?

“Cube” is a limited format that is typically curated by a single person choosing what cards are in the environment. In The Dynasty Cube, curation will occur as a product of how The Teams interact with the cards, combined with new sets being introduced each Season.

Teams? Isn’t Magic usually a 1v1 game?

In The Dynasty Cube participants are separated into one of 8 Teams of their choice. Teams can contain any number of members, however only one Pilot is designated to play a given match for that team. Teams will also designate a Captain who is the sole arbiter of any decisions made by that Team between matches, such as draft picks, trades, and league votes. It is expected - but not necessary - that a Team’s Captain consults their members to determine what decisions will be made.

The Dynasty Cube as a concept was heavily influenced by Fantasy Football and Blaseball, which sadly ended last year. Anyone familiar with Blaseball will notice some similarities as The League progresses.

Introducing The Dynasty Cube

The Dynasty Cube is a long-form draft league that allows you to draft through the history of Magic in the format of a fantasy sports dynasty league.

At the moment, I've just finished spinning up a Discord server to host and manage the league through - if anyone is interested in being sent an invite link, please DM me!

Here are some of the finer details of how the league works:

Drafts are done in a "season" - a draft plus all matches for a given draft.

Teams are allotted a certain number of "points" to spend on the cards they draft to build their deck for the season.

Each card starts with a point value that goes up each time it is drafted or kept into another season, or loses points if it's never drafted.

After the draft, players may also make trades with other players. Card values do not change with trades, and both cards and future draft picks may be traded.

After completing a draft season, each player may designate any number of cards from their pool as "keepers". In the next draft, keepers will be automatically drafted for that team rather than being available to the other teams.

The current list includes most draft-worthy cards from Alpha through Legends.

Each season, the next chronological set/product will be added to the pool for the next draft, excluding cards that are deemed problematic to the format. If adding this set does not add a sufficient number of cards that 8 players can draft 45 cards (360 cards available worth no more than 1 point), the next set/product will also be added to the pool.

No trace of any reason for the firing to be found in the article, both sides at the time of publishing have been silent about it.

Strange. Hoping it's something shitty Marvel/Disney did, would be disappointing to hear DeMayo did something worthy of being dropped suddenly like this...

I can relate to not wanting to throw something away if you can just fix it, but I guarantee you will save yourself a lot of time and stress if you just go down to your local thrift shop with a kitchen section and pick one of the dozens of spatulas they will have for like $0.50.

The last thing you want is the mess and possible pain of your repaired spatula breaking under the stress of lifting a hot, oily food from the pan.

YSAK - Very, very, very few of the people complicit in this industry ever had any real consequences for perpetuating a system of child abuse that lead to the destruction of so many lives going back to at least the late 60's. Most of these monsters simply moved on to other things after their institutions were finally shut down.

Some were even publicly lauded by their communities and powerful leaders for their "contributions" to society.

It's my first automatic watch. Had been working great until a few months ago, now it seems to struggle to keep a charge and occasionally sticks even when it should still have a charge. Need to find a place to take it in, sadly I've now moved from London to Chicago or I'd have just brought it back to the seller.

How's the deck win? I'M GLAD YOU ASKED! You see the 2 [[Rythm of the Wild]]? That there is gonna GARE-ANN-TEE you hit your opponent with your [[Etrata]] or your [[Thief of Sanity]]. You smell that? That there is card advantage and a win condition all in one!

You hear of Treasure tokens? How about makin a whole mess o tokens? And then winning because you have SO MANY TOKENS?

What that? "I know where you're going with this, and [[Revel in Riches]] is not good enough to win against T1-2 decks in standard."

That's where you're wrong my friend! With enough planeswalkers, counterspells, and board wipes, I'm here to tell you that you can win with anything.

This deck has SIX board wipes and another THREE in the board! We've got SEVEN counterspells, including the on-brand [[Spell Swindle]] for those sweet, sweet Treasure tokens.

Let's start off with the centerpiece of the deck, [[Satyr Enchanter]]. With this guy, you're gonna be drawing cards like you wouldn't believe - there's a grand total of TWENTY-TWO enchantments ready to generate real value, and another NINE enchantments in the board.

Between [[Ixalan's Binding]] and [[Seal Away]] you'll have no trouble dealing with your opponent's threats while drawing more and more cards.

What are we going to do with all that card draw? Well my friend, we're going to eviscerate our opponent using [[Psychic Corrosion]] of course!

Not drawing enough cards by just casting enchantments? Well that's what [[Patient Rebuilding]] and powerhouse [[Nezahal]] are for! Draw cards forever!
