Rick Berman?
This makes Section 31 sound like Oceans 11.
October 31 Prompt - Alien Cultures
One of my favourite bits from the Star Trek Adventures TTRPG, is in the Beta Quadrant Sourcebook where it says that Klingons and Andorians both enjoy playing hockey, since becoming aware of the sport. The accompanying art is spectacular. Unlike this doodle that I just banged out after the trick-or-treaters stopped showing up to the door.
October 10 Prompt - Shuttlecraft
Let's call this one a work in progress. I decided that the prompt would be a good opportunity to make an updated space burrito truck for my user icon. However it's game night, so I was drawing in between turns of Dune: Imperium, and thus only got the bare bones done. I will definitely be revisiting this to finish it up.
Also, going out of town for Thanksgiving -- or as we here in Canada call it, Canadian Thanksgiving -- and I'll have limited internet access, so I probably will have to post the next handful all at once upon returning to civilization.
It is nice to see Nhan is going to be in the finale. Hopefully they Owo and Detmer are back from their adventures aboard the ISS Enterprise and able to show up as well.
I considered suggesting "The Last Outpost".
I really like the idea behind that tribute cover, but the execution leaves something to be desired. The likeness of some of the characters are just off enough that the best thing you can say about them is at least you know they weren't traced. Pike, Number One, and Ortegas specifically are kinda busted.
Fortunately Angel Hernandez is doing the interior art, and his work on Star Trek: Year Five was pretty great.
I enjoyed this issue of Echoes more than the previous installments, but it still isn't doing much for me. Guggenheim seems to be cramming as many character flourishes -- little Kirkisms, and Spockisms, and McCoyisms -- into the issues as he can, and it makes the characters read like parodies of themselves. Also, the art has not grown on me at all.
I did like the opening scene with the Federation President though.
I like more new Trek than I dislike. Hell, I like SNW well enough.
I’m just opposed to the idea that because I’m in a specific age demographic that this particular iteration of Trek should be particularly special.
I would suspect it's because everyone has their own, individual tastes, and even for the people who prefer PRO, most of them don't feel the childish need to disparage another show they like less or dislike.
I haven't read it yet -- Guggenheim's work generally doesn't do much for me -- but I suppose I should catch up this weekend.
I’m going to guess the new problem ensign is one of the Platonians from the TOS episode, “Plato’s Stepchildren”.
