I mean yeah they (the conservatives) are afraid but Nora Loreto is a leftist activist. If anything, this is more inline with the left's anti Harris movement than the CP trying to do some damage control.

Still not convinced it isn't that

You don't "need" to speak French unless you come to Quebec and even then, if you do you will have access to some classes. Some companies offer them to theit expat on site and there's some from the government.

But you don't have to worry about that if you move to litterally any of the other provinces.

Thanks all, I set up a mumble server on a local Montreal host. We're currently using a realm to play but I might switch it to a full fledged server with the same guys.

A lot of the suggestions I liked on paper, like Revolt or Matrix and might take for myself. But the fact that there were community servers access directly in the app and no way for me to regulate their visibility for my kids instantly disqualified them for this specific use case.

With Mumla they only see the server I set up for them and I can control who comes in.

I mean live tv is live tv.

They don't play ads on "on demand" content.

Edit: I checked and actually the On Demand is basically the ability to "catch up" on live tv and will play it as is ads included without the ability to skip ahead so that's pretty shitty.

I just find it as a good alternative to watch live tv legally on the cheap.

Trying to find a way to be able to chat at a distance with my kids when playing Minecraft together online.

I'm having a really hard time finding a privacy focused video/audio chat that isn't American or aimed at businesses.

Something like Signal would be perfect but they don't have a phone so yeah...

I tried to set up Jami but it's too difficult and it needs to be simple for them since the oldest is 10 :/

The package is basically the same as Stack TV with few additions and the ability to add Hollywood Suite.

It is owned by VMedia < Freedom Mobile < Videotron < Québecor

Not too sure why there's so many levels under Québecor but all the levels are Canadian owned and operated.

Wtf, 40% of the waste comes from the US! Fuck that!

[–] UnderFreyja@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 days ago

Omg, thank you! I'm trying to move my personal website and switch everything tech to canada or at least out of the US and it's been sometimes hell to check where a company comes from / operates.

Great moment to download Duck Duck Go browser if only for the App Tracking protection. You will learn A LOT about the apps you use.
