Yet another personal project that I've just finished. Really enjoyed working on this one. Definitely a fun little challenge!

yes, it is another 3d model; but it's the last one for a while i promise. here are some detail views

gotham concept art for "The Batman", i believe

there's more concept art that fits here, although it's a lot more batmannish so i'm putting it in a

batman standing moodily on some gothic buttresses, staring at a smog-filled gotham

After placing in the CGSociety Uplift Challenge with my 'Adorable Alien' entry, I was made a judge and ineligible to win any prizes in the following contest. However, the theme was Steampunk and I'd been dying to work on a steampunk painting. So I worked on this piece for the challenge anyhow: I love getting feedback from folks and "hanging out with" friends during the Challenges, and who wouldn't want a steampunk piece in their portfolio? (And this piece turned out to be the first of many, MANY steampunk paintings, the one that really got me hooked on the genre.)

As with the previous painting, I built some base geometry for the mechanical bits in 3DS Max, but did all of the paint and color-work in Photoshop.

i almost used this as the 'sphere banner, but it was just slightly too tall

[-] Zeus@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

yeah don't consider it, just do it. maybe it's just me being influenced by tumblr cultr, but 1) he won't know, 2) there's no point in arguing with someone if neither of you are going to change the other's mind, 3) it harms no-one. just block anyone you don't want to talk to

i'll admit i almost never blocked anyone on reddit, but there were so many people it was kind of useless. here it actually can make a difference to your experience, i think

i much prefer natural scrolling; but at the moment it just inverts the scrolling direction, meaning that you have to scroll down on the icon to raise the volume or brightness. i feel that's a thing that needs to be changed for it to be default

natural scrolling is intuitive because it's dragging the content as though it were a physical thing - but the volume is currently dragged down to go up

also, i'm pretty sure it was also on his artstation, but he seems to have deleted it

Hummm.... As SpaceX said, there's only 6 months left to colonize Mars, by then we all known Elon Musk will declare independence and wage war to all mankind. Luckily Japan is building the first Gundam recently, I guess there's always hope in the dark

fennec, confusingly, was too different things

fennec, the codename for firefox android before it was codenamed fenix, is no longer developed. you're right

fennec, the floss soft fork of firefox android, is still being developed. it's available on fdroid, and based on fenix (modern firefox android)

there are a couple of issues on github related to doing this natively through lemmy

i will find and link them in the morning, but try searching https://github.com/lemmynet/lemmy for "multireddits" and "tags"

edit

  • #818 - main issue

  • #3443 - supposed duplicate

  • #3700 - nested communities idea

  • #3071 - another supposed duplicate

  • #317 - somewhat related, post tags

Bird, Elephant, and now Fish. Elephant and Fish can be friends, Bird can fuck off.

now that's a quote i want on a sticker with no context

[-] Zeus@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

still scummy though. i'm not going to go into the morals of whether social contracts should apply with businesses, but put it this way: if enough people did this, businesses would stop offering refunds; which would screw over those with genuine issues

[-] Zeus@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

yeah exactly. that's why i don't like webp. i've nothing against it as a format, i would just rather use image format that's not backed by said corpo

[-] Zeus@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

fascinating. maybe that's why r/pics caved and reopened the sub, they don't want their boost privileges removed.

shame it's wasted on me, as i'm only using to check my own old content since i moved here

[-] Zeus@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

yeah same. there are many youtubers whom i would have just left the video after the first falsely-cheery misleading promotion, whereas with sponsorblock i'll at least continue watching the video, helping them algorithmically and possibly allowing others who don't use sb to see their content

it's the same thing as "pirated copies ≠ copies not sold". skipped segments ≠ segments not watched

alternatively, if votes were private, you could spin up a bot network to mass upvote your comment; making it far more influential as most people are more inclined to believe statements they think others also feel. thankfully, votes are open, so you can't

as long as there is a system, people will try to game the system; and when there is a new system, people will come up with new games
