i know. but i specifically looked up the u.s. copyright period as a reference to the mickey mouse act, and a century was a nice round number for the surrealism of this lemmysphere

just fyi you can edit the link after posting on lemmy, you're not stuck with what was originally posted

i haven't gone in depth with it, but i use protonup-qt to install the latest (i think 8.04?) version and it works with no hassle at all

[-] Zeus@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

[-] Zeus@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

This is a challenge that I did with some friends in the discord of adapting the tale "The Masque of the Red Death" by Edgar Allan Poe. I imagined the characters as part of a cult that worships the Mask of the Red Death and performs rituals through the rooms with different colors from the abbey, each representing a different stage of life.

The Leviathan, Emperor Calus' planet-eating pleasure ship. Thanks to Art Director Mike Zak for keeping me on point when I tried to make it square like other Cabal ships. The curved shape language really helped inform the rest of the Leviathan palette.

yes

right click on any of the apps -> expand "applet preferences" -> "configure..." -> in the window that opens, change the middle click action

tested on 21.2, hope this helps

[-] Zeus@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Thing is… if I have to do that for every time someone linkdrops an article, I’ll have no time left in my day.

if you spent less time writing comments about articles you haven't read, you might have more time. do you do this in other walks of life? wander into restaurants you've never eaten at and announce "i don't think there's really any reason to order the fish"?

And it seems I was right that I have no real reason to use tor.

okay, i'll sum the article up for you. the more people that use tor, the more it protects vulnerable people. journalists writing exposés about corrupt governments, refugees trying to flee, etc. the more normal people using tor, the more they get lost in the crowd. it's nothing to do with whether you have any reason to use tor, that's irrelevant. by using it, you're helping those in vulnerable positions. happy? now go write something inciteful

[-] Zeus@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

i think that's irrelevant. sure, webp might be open licence, but so is chromium to some extent and that's doing severe damage to internet health

that said, apart from "it's an open format", i can't actually find any definitive answer on the webp licence

it's a step more horror-y, but little nightmares always felt to me like the third playdead game. i solidly recommend playing the first one first too

there's also far: lone sails (and its sequel, but I haven't played that); and it's a bit more low-budget i also really liked darq

salt & sanctuary had this atmosphere; but i've never finished it so i can't comment on its quality. and some other souls likes as well - thymesia and helloint come to mind

also portal (1) kind of fits this if you haven't played it

[-] Zeus@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

chiming in to say i'm currently running siduction on my laptop - it's pretty good, i like it

[-] Zeus@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Oh, I’m only on cinnamon atm because I was having issues with my mounted SSDs not working in steam and valve wouldn’t help unless I was on ubuntu. So here I am.

if you have to use ubuntu but want kde, kubuntu is very good (in my personal opinion, don't use neon).

Are there distros that come without this shit by default?

not to my knowledge, although it's a one-line fix (export GTK_USE_PORTAL=1)

If I can get a damn virtual machine to install properly I’m going distro hunting. ElementaryOS has been my favorite so far.

good luck. i tried that and couldn't find anything i liked..
