i doubt it, i don't see why an icon pack would have a systemd service. probably something to do with moonlight [nvidia]

still, thank you for introducing me to a new* icon pack

crul i have disappointed you and i am sorry

i know. but i specifically looked up the u.s. copyright period as a reference to the mickey mouse act, and a century was a nice round number for the surrealism of this lemmysphere

as someone who's not scared of computers, i have no idea what they do. i assume the right one is icons/list/compact[^1] not a waffle menu, but the hamburger and kebab? i have no clue

[^1]: though why it's showing list when the current view is icons, i don't know either

i haven't gone in depth with it, but i use protonup-qt to install the latest (i think 8.04?) version and it works with no hassle at all

concept art for a great-looking mistborn game, but i think it may unfortunately have been quietly cancelled as there's been no word since 2021 and the website is down

it's a different image to the other posts, but it's from the same artstation project so i'm cross-posting it for transparency

For my project Daybreak I imagined the last remaining city would be highly congested with surviving generations. Like any society, there is a natural hierarchy, and in this one the common people are stuck on the lower levels in most parts of the city. Inhabitants compete to build their homes in prime spots that are linked to bridges and higher levels of the city.

yeah... i certainly won't be using it

it's a shame, as it has some nice features that no other client has; but the privacy policy is just incredible

Thing is… if I have to do that for every time someone linkdrops an article, I’ll have no time left in my day.

if you spent less time writing comments about articles you haven't read, you might have more time. do you do this in other walks of life? wander into restaurants you've never eaten at and announce "i don't think there's really any reason to order the fish"?

And it seems I was right that I have no real reason to use tor.

okay, i'll sum the article up for you. the more people that use tor, the more it protects vulnerable people. journalists writing exposés about corrupt governments, refugees trying to flee, etc. the more normal people using tor, the more they get lost in the crowd. it's nothing to do with whether you have any reason to use tor, that's irrelevant. by using it, you're helping those in vulnerable positions. happy? now go write something inciteful

and the way I open apps - press super and start typing it's name and enter. So simple, so fast.

that.. is the way one opens apps on every mainstream de by default? be it a start menu (plasma, windows, cinnamon, etc.), list menu, (old plasma, many old de's), or some other launcher, i think that's pretty standard

[-] Zeus@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

i use simple because it's the only gallery i know of that supports apng

but i probably would anyway. i like the standard material 1 design, it's faster than aves, and i don't need all the blur, animations, and eye-candy that's aves' draw. perhaps i'm getting old but simple gallery just works and works the same as all the other apps in their suite, and conforms to standard android paradigms

it's a step more horror-y, but little nightmares always felt to me like the third playdead game. i solidly recommend playing the first one first too

there's also far: lone sails (and its sequel, but I haven't played that); and it's a bit more low-budget i also really liked darq

salt & sanctuary had this atmosphere; but i've never finished it so i can't comment on its quality. and some other souls likes as well - thymesia and helloint come to mind

also portal (1) kind of fits this if you haven't played it

[-] Zeus@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Oh, I’m only on cinnamon atm because I was having issues with my mounted SSDs not working in steam and valve wouldn’t help unless I was on ubuntu. So here I am.

if you have to use ubuntu but want kde, kubuntu is very good (in my personal opinion, don't use neon).

Are there distros that come without this shit by default?

not to my knowledge, although it's a one-line fix (export GTK_USE_PORTAL=1)

If I can get a damn virtual machine to install properly I’m going distro hunting. ElementaryOS has been my favorite so far.

good luck. i tried that and couldn't find anything i liked..

my dude, i haven't booted into windows in ages. but that proves my exact point: it might save one time if ones workflow involves a lot of tasks that can be scripted. if ones workflow is "launch photoshop; browse the web for inspiration; draw for a bit; close photoshop.", it won't save any time. especially due to the hassle of getting photoshop working, or learning a new app like gimp or krita.
